food lessons
a few weeks ago I thought I had learned the lesson of knowing the points of
something before eating it. We drove through a drive through and I wanted French fries, it was the last day of my week, I had flex points and I eat fries about twice a year when not concerned about my weight so DH ordered my salad and fries... We take off down the road, I chomp the salad, DH is driving, we are talking, having a good time... I start eating fries, and eat, and talk, and eat, and, and, until finally I get done and pull the box out to see if there are any fries left in the bag, and DH says "OH man" they gave us a med. instead of a small!!!" This put me over two points for the week. I vowed then and there to know exactly what the heck I was eating before I ate it... flash forward to last night... I did WI, we ate dinner out, ran some errands, and I wanted an eggnoglate,SP? so off to starbucks we go, he goes in gets it and again away we go, I "think" for some reason it is about ten points... I drink it, and enjoy it... we get home and figure out it is 18 points and I remember my chagrin at the fries, I renew my commitment to myself to know before eating. it is good because at least this time I had the flex points to spare. I love this program!!! Lee |

This is exactly what I love about ww, and think it is probably why I have been so
successful. We can make those errors, knowingly or unknowingly, and still know we have not failed. Just jump back on track whenever you can, right back into your old routine. Nothing can cause permanent damage unless we allow it to. I love your attitude Lee, it will (and has) carried you far. It is very empowering to say I have never cheated in 61 weeks, and it is
very empowering to say I have only gone over points a few individual days but have always been able to make it up. It is very empowering to say for this whole time I have gone over total weekly points one week. So much better than I "went off " or I cheated. because I am not having to concentrate on how often I fail, I am better able to concentrate on the actual choices of food I make which where I need to work most, Lee Joyce wrote in message ... Throughout this entire journey, which will be 2 years for me in February
(geeeeesh, sure doesn't feel like 2 years!) - I took the attitude that it was impossible to cheat on the ww program. Even if I wanted a cheeseburger, or sundae, chocolate, whatever ... how can you cheat when you are holding yourself responsible for your own choices? Nothing is off limits, so again, how can you *cheat*? It's common sense and balance - pretty simple if you look at it in those terms. If I really want something, I have it - then balance it out throughout the rest of the day/week with the other choices I am making as well as choosing the option of adding a bit extra exercise. Evidentally this attitude is still working in my favor.
