Default new low, of a sort

After shaving this morning, my eyes happened upon my digital body
temperature thermometer. Since I feel great today, I thought it might be a
good time to get a normal reading, as a benchmark. The digital thermometer
said I am 96.0 degrees. This seemed absurd, so I got out my 20 or 30 year
old mercury thermometer. I shook it down to 95, which isn't easy to do, and
took my temperature the old fashioned way. I let it measure, deep behind my
tongue, for 8 minutes. The reading was 96.8 degrees.

Fitday says that over the last 28 days I have averaged 1240 calories per
day.

Presumably, my metabolism is conserving energy after 19 months of dieting.
Despite this, I have averaged a loss of 1.72 pounds per week this last
month, and 1.68 pounds per week averaged over the last two months.

My point is: just because low calorie eating may reduce the metabolism, does
not mean one should eat more calories to lose weight. It just means that
one needs to eat sufficiently less calories to compensate for the reduced
burn rate.

My subjective sense of energy is the highest I've felt in years. I'm
setting new records for household chores, for yardwork, and even did a roof
repair project. The laundry is done, dishes washed. Maybe, today, I'll
wash my car by hand.

I think you are wasting time trying to do calorie calculations or
trying to make the numbers make sense. Calories mean squat.

Hey, it's working for her, so who are you to say?
That weight loss is pretty damned impressive IMHO. ;-)

Make sure you have a total T3 run.
Sometimes T4 and TSH (the usual 2 run) can be normal but since T3 is the
actual ACTIVE hormone, it means more...... but a lot of doctors don't
understand that.

That's why I finally went to a good endocrinologist that knew that.

My normal body temp is similar, but I have thyroid disease. Despite
taking replacement hormones for this, I'm never 97.6 or whatever is
supposed to be normal - always a degree or two less than that. When my
temp gets taken by health care professionals, they always do it two or
three times because they can't believe the readings.

I have a hard time knowing when I actually have a fever. If I feel
punky and I'm 97.6, am I running a temp? I have to assume so, but try
explaining that to some nurse on the doctor's phone!

I've been sick and had a temp of 99ºF which the doctor always says is "no
big deal". Why don't they listen when I tell them that I AM febrile, that
my normal temp is always below 97ºF??? That's one of the most irksome
things about know-it-all doctors...

Cubit, Everyones temperture drops during the night. If you did this
very near to your awakening time, chances are that your basal body
temperature was still low.
Also you need to think about maybe finding yourself a girl friend and
having some serious sex! You have way too much time on your hands
obsessing over your calories, weight and body temperature.
