I punched out a hard 50....

Getting to 100 seems -- well, beyond imagination. It's still a goal, but boy! I did another 28 miles on Sunday, too, sort of a recovery ride. Got 125 miles in last week. Gas prices are getting really high, too, so I wonder how long it will take before people figure out they don't need a car to go one mile to the store? On the sunday ride I saw a "pack" of racer dudes in full plumage. They like like a horde of bees or something. But since there were all bunched up, the basically acted like a big truck on the road, so cars had to give them respect -- unlike they do me by squeezing by if I don't take the lane. :: :: Enjoy, :: Curt :: :: "Roger Zoul" wrote in message :: ... ::: Whew.... ::: ::: My average speed is down almost 1 mph.... this has been a hard LC ::: week. ::: ::: Partial fast on Sunday. ::: Full fast on Monday ::: WT on Monday night ::: 41 miles on bike on Wed. ::: WT on Wed night ::: 6 miles on Thursday ::: WT on Thursday night ::: 50.6 miles on Sat morn. ::: ::: All LC eating except this morning. I had 40g glucose tablets ::: before ride. 40 g during ride (started feeling zonked). Also had a ::: Clif bar for like 240 kcals, don't remember right now how many ::: carbs. ::: ::: Good news was no lower back pain....maybe those reverse ::: hyperextensions and/or light deadlifting in the gym helped. ::: ::: Bad news is was much sloppier on this ride. I hit the ground ::: once....another time while climbing, I stood up near the top of the ::: hill, hit a rock which caused me to get unstable, then when off the ::: shoulder which was up about 4 inches above the ground. That had me ::: off stopped with foot on ground. Not hurt, but not a pretty stunt ::: to be doing out on the road. Hands kept getting numb and me feet ::: hurt (poorly fitting shoes, I think). ::: ::: Speed was definitely slower than I've done before. Since I know I ::: can grunt out 50, I think I'll start working on speed now. ::: Shorter, but more frequent rides at higher intensity levels. I'm ::: going to have to lose more weight, too, to really have an impact on ::: speed. Pain is good. (up to a point, that is) ::: ::: Well, I've got a date with a new lady, so I've got to clean up. |

Try the UK http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/fuel/index.html That translates as over $5 a gallon. Pete |
