Default Getting Anxious

Here I am on my 1st week of Maintenance and I am getting anxious. I am
weighing in in 2 more days, but I have used all of my flex points and ate a
sandwich today that I am guessing was 15 points! I can't eat for the rest of
the day ;(((

I am just wondering if any other's who have gone through maintenance have
experienced anxiety, and how you cope with the feelings?

Sue:

Can you exercise and use those points to eat today? The other thing you
can do is have some 0 point soup and salad for dinner.

As far as the anxiety goes, I'm sorry I'm no help to you there. I'm
still slogging away in the trenches and when I was in maintenance I
remmeber I was anxious because I didn't think ww supported maintenance
and lifers as well as losers. Clearly I didn't cope with the feelings
very well.

Connie

Default Getting Anxious

I'm weighing in on my 5th week of maintenance in a few hours, and I totally
understand the anxiety!! I gained on my first week of maintenance, and then
went back into losing mode to get a buffer going. I'll probably gain a bit
or stay the same this week. Don't forget you've got 6 weeks to figure it
out, and just so long as you're under goal at the end they don't care what
else happened.

WW is about figuring out how to stay the same weight for *life*. Sometimes
life gets in the way of losing, but you should now have the skills to get
back on track if a gain happens. Don't worry about one week - worry about
the overall scheme of things. One week in a lifetime doesn't really matter

Good luck for your first maintenance weighin!

Thanks for the advice, Julie. They really didn't explain the maintenance thing
all too well to me. I weighed in with a receptionist and the meeting was
already in progress. I actually had to point out that I made goal to her. Not
that I expected her to share my enthusiasm, but she was very nonchalant about
it, handed me a booklet about maintenance, and didn't go into any details.
Thank goodness for this group!

The focus is very different. You are no longer trying to drive weight
down. You no longer see the "reward" of less weight on the scale. So
it is different, if not harder.

Then, again, the tweaking really never ends - but that is healthy in
some respects - that is life changes, vacations happen, less exercise
in winter, more in summer. Each of these things will require tweaking
your food quotient and points, up, down, the same.

Don't sweat it. You know how the program goes. But foremost,
remember, that it really needs to be a continuous effort. You will
not magically stay at your goal weight if you do not work the program
much of the time.
