I Started...
I am bound and determined to break that 300lb barrier by the end of the
month. I am starting to use my Yourself!Fitness Xbox program on a daily basis 5 times a week and I actually started jogging short distances this morning. I read on another post from either Dally or Chris B. about jogging between telephone poles. I chose garbage cans this morning (neighborhood garbage day today) and picked two cans to jog between (estimated 75-150ft apart) and then walk to catch my breath. I did it twice on the long sides of my neighborhood walk and once on the short sides (I walk 5 or 6 neighborhood blocks in a rectangle, roughly 3/4mi). I was huffing a little, but smiling all the way - feeling good that I could accomplish this - been a long time since I could jog like that. In another vein, I'd like to say Mr. Kathy Griffin - I weep for you. I caught the show "Kathy Griffin: Life on the D-List" this weekend - yet another celebrity reality show. What caught my attention was her husband, Matt, was going for a gastric by-pass eval. I thought that might be interesting to see. Well, the weight minimum was 320lbs for the surgery according to his health plan and he weighed in at 309lbs. He proceeded to put on ankle weights and stuff things in his pockets to 'bulk up' for the final eval weigh-in. Needless to say, the eval people couldn't believe he gained 11lbs in 2 weeks but green-lighted him for the surgery. Later on in the show he said he decided against the surgery and started a health diet to lose weight. Uh, more like he decided against the surgery after he realized the camera crew had proof of health insurance fraud (i.e. videotapes and witnesses of his 'bulking up'). What an *ss... I swear our health insurance goes up due in part to people like this that scam the insurance companies (or at least try to)... Anyway, great posts so far the past week or so. Keep it up! I have a feeling this will be the month to hit that milestone, Matty! I used a very similar training technique when I was learning to run. I used driveways in the neighborhood.....run one, walk two, etc. Most training programs I've read use a similar program for begineers. I've had to curtail the running due to Morton's nueroma but I apply the same method when walking on the treadmill. Beverly |

I think it was Dally's suggestion, but anyway, that's very cool! You deserve to feel proud of yourself! Chris 262/130s/130s started dieting July 2002, maintaining since June 2004 |
