Have you seen theWalk Away the Pounds videos. I started with those
and I thought quite good for low-impact.

I've heard of them, but I reckon that I know how to walk, and a mile
or so as a brisk pace in the fresh air will do me better than
listening to a tape or watching a DVD...

I managed 50 lengths of the pool today. Not been a good day, really.

I mainly work out at night after my kids have gone to bed so DVDs work
best for me. It isn't just straight walking...there are 4 basic moves
plus low background music and some encouragement and occasional
chatter from Leslie Sansone (the instructor) and the cast. I love
swimming. I've had a crappy week and have been horrible with the
exercise and eating over the last couple of days. I let stress get to
me too much. I'm going to spend much quality time gardening this
weekend to relieve the stress and get back on board after the weekend
when I've regrouped.

I think many of us will be gardening this weekend. Our weather is just
perfect for it, 79-82, and I've been pulling out the old flowers all
week. Also we raise a lot of vegetables and herbs. It's a great stress
reliever.

I dunno about gardening exactly... The hubby may be out there with the
loppers and the garden shredder for a while, trying to FIND the garden!
At the moment there are two bushes trying to meet in the middle right
outside the back door! The last five weekends have been either occupied
or we've been away! I'm thinking of holding a garden clearance party!

The fibro means I have to keep exercise as low impact as I can: thus the
swimming is perfect and walking (no jogging, no running) the next best.
Walking on rough land can be hard, but one doesn't always want to
stick to paved paths and mown grass!

As a kid I used to love gym and all forms of PE, and even played hockey
for my school. Now that high impact stuff just results in flare ups and
a higher level of pain that I can very easily live without!

Kate, it is encouraging to hear from people who also experience
exercise restrictions so to speak from their doctor. I still get
frustrated that I am not supposed to be running at all- I try to
remember that I am postponing/preventing surgeries, joint replacements
later in life that way.

For cardio, I'm really enjoying the exercises on my Push DVD, you might
want to give it a try for a change of pace from swimming and walking,
esp. because it can be customized to your needs.
