I might add that meeting also vary by the group.

I have some group that are just whinners, and it's a drag.. most of my
groups are great and success oriented !

Hello all! Patty from Minnesota USA here.

I've been thinking about joining Weight Watchers, but I'm a little
cautious in terms of price. It would cost about $10 a week for the
meetings.

I've never been to a Weight Watchers meeting before. I was wondering
what to expect. Is there nutrition education or is it just a support
group? I'm sure there will be other things I can buy at the meeting--are
they worth the money? It says on WW's website that the first meeting is
free and I can just walk in--is that really OK? (I'm nervous when it
comes to meeting new people.)

I just unsubscribed from an online weight loss group. I lost a little
weight, but I didn't find their community support to be very supportive.
I'd like to lose quite a bit, and I think face to face contact might be
more helpful.

I'm looking forward to your input. Thanks in advance.

Patty

Meetings vary by the leader. I've been to some great meetings with lots
of helpful information and support. Most of the time it's education based
with support thrown in. I've been to the occasional meeting where it's
simply a whining session. The first one is normally free so go try one in
your area and see for yourself.

Just curious on what online support group you joined?

I belong to www.ivillage.com and read the Weight Watcher's board.

welcome and good luck, I generally don't even like people and I love my
meetings, you get support and education, the items they sell are generally
good quality but you take what you need and leave the rest... read the
response to Eddie that I wrote for my history, it is in my week 195 thread,
again welcome and good luck, oh yeah there are also package deals to cut the
cost, Lee
