-L........(I really wish you had a name!).........

Eating all of your points during weight loss is one thing that my leader
advocates very strongly. The reason for this is that if you don't get your
body used to them now, then when you do use them, your body may react with a
weight-gain. The other factor is that when you finally get to maintenance,
your body will already be used to the extra points and when you start adding
back a few more during maintenance, then you will be able to handle more
food without gaining and if you need to cut back, then there is plenty of
room to do so.

You say that you are only eating 1 or 2 extra weekly points per day? Well
that tells me right away that you are not eating all of your points! You
should eat them! ALL OF THEM.........

They told us the weekly points are optional...( ? ) Is that not true?
I did drink extra water today and I ate 4 oz more meat, and was not
hungry. Yay!

Some people say that. Mine insists they are *not* optional, unless you
want to end up maintaining on less food for the rest of your life once
you get to goal. I never leave any of mine uneaten; when I do, I stop
losing weight.

the points are optional but they are there to keep you from being hungry.
I
because of my metabolism have to eat mine or I get sick and actually can
gain... if you need to eat them is a trial and error and depends on your
body, Lee

I believe this because the LESS I eat the more likely I am to lose weight.
How people claim they gain on LESS food is hard for me to understand. Your
metabolism can only slow for so long and you will start to lose weight. You
can't gain if you burn MORE calories than you are consuming. Your body
can't make calories from thin air.

you evidently are a medical professional that is entirely smarter than all
of the doctors my parents paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to help me
save my sight, and evidently the fact that I could go for 30 days eating 400
calories a day and lose exactly 3 pounds is just my imagination, I think I
have actually reached the point where you and I need no longer communicate,
if you are actually interested in how this works maybe someone else on this
group can help you with the concept of starvation mode and the miracle of
the human body that can be more efficient than mere mortals can deal with,
please have a nice life and I wish you well, Lee, done with this
conversation

The information was the Nutritionist at the local Hospital Diet and
Nutrition Clinic. Your SIGHT? I never mentioned "sight."

and evidently the fact that I could go for 30 days eating 400

Who are you aiming this at? Are saying you went a month on only 400
calories a day outside the hospital environment?

I think I

I think you are right about a lack of communication. If you believe the
starvation mode enables people to keep their weight while deprived of food
(calories) you also believe in the Easter Bunny and Santa. ;-) Remember
the concentration camps? You seem to believe a human being can manufacture
calories from the air and water in this "starvation mode". People rescued
from mine shafts, rafts at sea, packing crates, downed air planes, those
trapped on mountains sides etc. have lost *vast* amounts of weight by the
time they're rescued days later. Your metabolism can only slow so much
before death occurs or you start to utilize body fat/tissue. You cannot eat
LESS calories than you burn and not lose weight.

please have a nice life and I wish you well, Lee, done with this
conversation

I found also that week 3 was a real sticking point. In fact I let down and
it set me back a week. Fred

I wasn't hungry during weeks 1 and 2 - but now I am starving! What's
up with that? I have lost 4.8 lbs so far - maybe my metabolism has
been kick-started? I am sticking to daily points for the most part -
usually just 1 or 2 weekly points per day extra.
