So true, and sadly speaks to behaviors we are conditioned to- i.e.
pressures to eat "healthfully" in front of others. I remember reading a
magazine article about female college students feeling pressure to eat
only salad for dinner in the dining halls, and secretly eating desert
foods in the private of their dorm rooms.

Secret eating is a major hallmark of many eating disorders.

this is sad, and it is reinforced when you are in public with people who
ask, "can you have that on your diet?" or even worse "are you cheating?" or
the most disgusting, "can you have that?" Lee

We are going to a very nice restaurant in Santa Barbara on Saturday as
part of my husband's group meeting. Even though I've been a WW her
entire life, my daughter asked if there was anything I could eat. The
menu is on line. You know, there are things I can eat on every menu.
It's all about the choices I make.

that is the irony, I don't know how many times I have said, "I can eat
anything if I want to, my mom and sister are the only two who get it, now
when we have a family thing they ask, is there anything you want us to fix,
used to be is there anything special you want, we are making great strides
in this area, and they actually fix what I want, sister made loads of green
vegetables and the WW German chocolate cake from the WW site when I asked,
my mom and sister are great at this, Lee
