Default Why is all this necessary?

By "all this" I mean joining the WW (or some other diet) club, paying dues,
going to meetings, counting points, weigh-ins, endless postings in this NG,
etc.

If you were under a death sentence unless you stopped smoking, what would
you do? Sure! You'd stop cold turkey. No-brainer! Only the weakest
people would join a club to stop smoking, then fail and die early. The
winners wouldn't need any further motivation. They'd see the truth, grit
their teeth, go through the withdrawal pains, and stop smoking, period.

Obese people, hello!!! You are under a death sentence unless you get your
weight down to normal. Your choices are to join WW and become one of the
many failed multi-year WW members on this NG, or take your life in your own
hands and control your eating. Such a small price to pay for prolonging and
improving the quality of your life. If this doesn't matter to you, it does
to your families.

Obviously no one can argue with the truth of this. Nevertheless, this
posting will attract negative responses from the losers. These responses
will be "it's too hard to do without support", or "you don't know anything
'cause you've never had to lose weight", or some other drivel. And the
responders will go on, remaining obese ...

Don't bother to respond. I don't read responses. You can't teach me
anything on this subject. I've heard every emotional, illogical line.

Just control your eating like your life depended on it. That's all that
matters.

It is quite good with brown rice and veggies. That's exactly how I serve it
at home. It also works with other kinds of fish. The salsa/bean mixture is
good on whole wheat pasta too for lunch the next day.

Tonight's salmon: for two hungry women who'd spent the day shifting
stuff out of a loft and down to the dump, swapping cars about, and
generally doing blue-arsed fly impressions!

two large handfuls of bean sprouts
half a large onion, sliced
half a red pepper, sliced
half a courgette, sliced in to matchsticks
1 large mushroom, sliced
2 salmon fillet portions
1 tablespoon soy sauce

In a glass dish, arrange the fish on top of the vegetables and pour the
soy sauce over it. Put a lid on and steam bake in the microwave (600w)
for 10 minutes.

2.5 points. serve with 3 points of boiled rice or noodles for a total
of 5.5 points.

We had it with sweet potatoes and we also had more salad...

Default Another Salad that Rocks :)

I went on a retreat a few weeks ago, and the chef made some wonderful salads
with fruit. I created this one tonight for dinner

mixed greens (spinach, romaine, etc. or whatever you like)
carrot curls
cherry tomatoes from my garden
low fat feta cheese crumbles
quartered fresh strawberries
a little wild caught salmon flaked
about a half ounce of walnuts toasted

dressing:
fresh orange juice ((about a T )
a tsp of honey
balsamic vinegar (about 2 T)
about a half T of walnut oil
fresh ground pepper

I had this with some whole grain low fat graham crackers. It was awesome! It
sounds like an odd combination, but is totally full of healthy foods and
tastes like heaven.

Gawd, I wish I liked fish. It would make things so much easier, not
mention, healthier.

Oh well...

You could do this one with grilled chicken or even just the feta cheese and
walnuts. A few pinto beans would be good too for protein.
