Default Down 2 pounds

You gotta be kidding me, a goal of 1500? Just giving up soda and junk food is
enough to cut 300-500 calories a day for most Americans! Another couple hundred
can be cut if meals are prepared in advance at the correct size and eating only
when hungry to the last drop. I've used these strategies to cut my calories
down to 1000, and I intend to stay that way. Also, sometimes I go to sleep
instead of eating when I'm starving badly or craving bad foods.

Well, it seems I've lost two pounds in the past week, despite eating
rather carelessly (not excessive calories, but more sugar and fat than
usual) and exercising less. Today I weighed in at 141. I'm feeling a
little conflicted about whether to change my goal range (145-150).
It's hard to feel like I want to gain weight -- after all this time
focusing on losing -- but I'm certainly not trying to continue losing
either. I'm going to up my daily calorie target to 1500 (has been
1400 for the last few weeks), though I don't know that I'll hit it
today as I feel like I'm starting a cold and my throat is sore. I
think I'll leave my goal range as is for now and play it by ear.

Seems colds are going around. Hope you feel better soon.

I am also down a couple of pounds. My goal now is to stop losing weight but
to lower my percent body fat by increasing lean mass. After three months of
adapting to a WOE that I really enjoy and works for me, it is difficult to
start intentionally eating more. One of the things I like about my WOE is
that it eliminates cravings. I have a hard time eating when I am not
hungry.

This week, as I begin my strength training in addition to my morning walk, I
will be adding a tablespoon of peanutbutter to my protien shake and trying
to add one, small meal/snack each day. The good thing about a way of eating
that doesn't involve 'counting anything' is that you don't have to obsess
about numbers. The bad thing is that it is hard to guage how much to add
back when you want to quit losing weight. Like you, I have to play it by
ear.

Mind if I ask what your WOE entails?

I don't see any problems with giving up soda and junk foods. What good do they
give you?

Going below 1200 calories normally isn't recommended unless you're on a
medically supervised diet. 1500 calories is a normal range for many women.

What are you eating in those 1000 calories? If you need to go to sleep to
avoid eating due to hunger I would rethink to calorie level. How long do
you think you can stick with this low amount? What's going to happen when
you just can't exist on this level of calories?

Welcome back, Chris :-)

Wow, I wish I had *your* problem... :-)
Just kidding, though. I know it seems strange to want to gain weight, I
remember that from the time I was pregnant - I was so used to being a
"loser", it was weird wanting the scales to go up (for the sake of the baby,
of course :-)... and it was certainly weird *watching* it go up!
(I just wish I was a bit more watchful postpartum g)

Maybe if you add some extra fruit, that might do the trick - most fruits are
high in carbs and calories, but a healthy, sensible food choice.
