I know some people who absolutely swear by it, though personally, I am
not convinced of its validity. If you look on the d'damo's web page
discussion forum you will also see many othes that swear by it.

What I recall from the book, in a nutshell, is that a person of Type O
should eat a low carbohydate diet and a person with type A should eat a
low fat high carbohyrdate diet and type B and AB were somewhere in
between. This is further refined by the claim that people of X type
should concentrate on certain foods and avoid certain others.

While some poeople do thrive on low fat diet, I believe that the
percentage of people is fairly low and certainly lower than the 45% (or
so) of the population that is blood type A. When confronted with this,
the people that swear by the diet tend to say that the book is based
upon old research and has been refined greatly and will be updated
again shortly.

Voodoo dieting.

The non-profit Center for Science in the Public Interest reviewed the
book the diet is based on, "Eat Right 4 Your Type". This is what they
had to say:

*** Claim:
Your blood type determines your diet, supplements, and personality
because it is "the key to your body's entire immune system".

*** What You Eat:
Type O: meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables. Avoid: wheat, beans.
Type A: fruits, vegetables, beans, most seafood. Avoid: meats, dairy,
wheat
Type B: meat, beans, fruits, vegetables. Avoid: chicken, wheat
Type AB: seafood, dairy, fruits, vegetables. Avoid: red meat

*** Is the Science Solid?
About as scientific as a horoscope.

*** Is the Diet Healthy?
Not applicable (diet varies according to blood type, ancestry, etc.).

*** Most Preposterous Claim:
"If you are a type A woman with a family history of breast cancer,
consider introducing snails into your diet."

Key word there is DIET ..
ALL diets 'work' because you eat less calories per day than you use ..
Simple cause and effect .. wow rocket science ...
The problem is taking that 'diet' and making it sustainable to change
your eating habits for the rest of your life.
Does this particular diet teach you anything that you can follow
forever? Nutritional knowledge?
No it doesnt. Put it in the crap pile of useless diets.
