Oh...the Insanity
What a strange thing it is.....
I started Atkins (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) at about 220lbs on about September 15th, 2003. I very quickly dropped 20 pounds, where I have been stalled for about 2 months. Stalls appear to be common so I didn't think too much of it. I am actually quite enjoying low carb eating...seems to suit my tastes. I still sneak in the odd sugary tidbit or bread once and a while though just for the love of all good tasting food. Anyways....after a really ****ty series of events at work and home starting last Thursday night, I have been on a little bit of a binge. Friday night dinner was a large "house specialty" pizza, washed down with a few beer. Saturday morning was out for an allergy shot, and stopped at Tim Horton's, and ended up eating two maple danish's. Also finished off the pizza for lunch. Saturday dinner - stuffed in a steak and veggies "pretending" to be good, but ate a whole restaurant loaf of sourdough bread with a ton of butter in a weak moment. Washed down with 1/2 litre of Merlot! Sunday night was out with friends, and sucked back 4 of the new Sleeman Clear low carb beers, and a whole lotta (I lost count) vanilla vodka and diet cokes.....probably drank about 2 litres of coke with a good 1/2 bottle of vodka. Also weaked out and munched down 4 or 5 handfuls or pretzels. Anyways....I didn't even get on the scale Monday morning, as usually after the weekends with a little bit of cheating, I have gained 3 or 4 pounds or water weight. I figured I was doomed after this much cheating . So.....this morning I hold my breath and get on the scale, and I am at a new all time low weight.....a three pound whoosh down to 197. Damn....what a strange thing it is...... GT 220/197/who knows..... |

Damn....what a strange thing it is...... Regular "refeeds" following a diet phase can be good for fat loss. I never remember the exact specifics, but do a google groups search in the misc.fitness.weights group with "refeed leptin" as words to search for. There will be a few discussions found. Oh...the Insanity
I always regain after a whoosh that includes alcohol the day before. Hope
you don't. For me it's all about dehydration and rehydration and I usually eat the wrong things while drinking or thereafter. ~*~Pie~*~ 254/too much/150 (who cant get her head out of her ass and is going to gain all this weight back because she's a lazy ass) "GT" wrote in message ... They usually don't happen when you expect the and sometimes, as in your case, happen when you LEAST expect them. I don't know that I should say "good work!" under the circumstances. -- Jean B. |

GT 220/197/who knows..... Happens to me all the time. When I stall, I up my carbs for a few days and then return to "induction" style eating for a few days, then back to around 60 gm carbs/day. Always good for a few pounds of loss, and seems to give my system a jump start. That's why I don't stress about special occasion meals so much. Weddings, thanksgiving, etc...I eat what I want. As long as you're disciplined enough to go back to good LC eating after the binge, I've not found that the big meal indulgences every now and then have any negative impact at all. Skipping the special occasion meals, however, would definitely impact me in a negative way, emotionally. Lee |
