Sorry but the cabbage soup diet, and especially a diet that promises to

lose
10-17 pounds in one week is just not WW. They would never promote anything
as unhealthy as that. Weigh****chers warn you you lose too much when you

go
over 2 pounds a week. You wouldn't be losing fat, but mostly water and
muscle mass. Why not start a kind of WW thing instead of such a strange

diet
as long as you don't have the materials : like journalling for a week to

see
how much you ' re eating, and then posting it here so that we can help you
lower it in points ?

I found this online. It is called Weight Watchers Drop Diet. I had heard

of
it before but didn't know it was a WW thing. It is the cabbage soup

diet.
I
can send it to you if you would like to see what I am talking about.

Wow! That is awesome! You should definitely be proud of yourself!
If I can lose 2 pounds a week for the next 22 weeks, I would be real
close
to my goal for my wedding anniversary! I would love to have reached

goal
by
my anniversary, but that might be pushing it. I am doing the drop

diet
this
week which says that if you do it right that you will lose between

10-17
pounds. Maybe with a combination of the drop diet and doing the

point
system
afterwards I could reach my goal!
Christina in OK

This is WW who says you can lose 10-17 pounds in a week?

Hi,
I am new to trying the WW point system. I actually have a friend that is
copying the info I need. I have been so depressed from all of the baby
weight I gained from my 4 children. I am 5'5" and weigh in at 197. My
pre-children weight was 135. I am hoping to get down to 140 which mean that
I want to lose 57lbs. I have tried several different things in the past and
I am hoping that maybe this will work for me. I am officially going to start
counting points tomorrow. My friend just sent me some of the info that I
would need so I am almost ready.
Maybe when our financial status improves I can actually join WW or WW
online.

Thanks for the website. I have decided not to go with the cabbage soup diet.
Don't want to do anything to make things worse. I will start working on a
journal tomorrow of what I eat and post here. Do you guys really measure
your food intake? I have never done that!

Christina in OK

I suspect that just about everyone here will answer that question with a
resounding Yes!

When I started this program I went out and bought a kitchen scale. I
splurged on one that looks nice enough to keep out on the counter, figuring
that if I put it away I'd be tempted not to use it. My DH uses the scale a
lot, too -- he *says* he's interested in how much he's eating, but I think
it's that testosterone-toy connection at work again. :-)

I also went to Walmart and bought some additional measuring cups and 3 new
sets of measuring spoons. I'm lucky enough to have a dishwasher so I can
just drop in a spoon after I use it and there's a clean one there to measure
the next food. (A lot of my food plan seems to be measured in
tablespoons -- salad dressing, sourcream, grated cheese...)

Having said that, I'm sure a lot of people here have gotten used to
measuring by sight. I have a WW booklet that gives tips on how to do that,
like a portion of meat is about the same size as a deck of playing cards or
an audio cassette.

Hi Christina, welcome to our little corner of the world! I started ww in Feb.
2002 - reached ww goal in February 2003 my personal goal in May 2003, and am
maintaining rather well after a years time. Believe it or not, I still do measure
my food. I'm at the point where I don't measure everything though - somethings I
have a good enough handle on and I don't worry (veggies/salad/fruit). Red meat
always gets measured, scoopable icecream is even put on the scale. Usually it's
those items that I know can easily get away from me if I allow them to. My
kitchen scale was one of the best investments I made, and feel it really did help
me learn what is a *normal* portion.

I still journal too - but it's on the computer and only takes a few short minutes
a day. It is something I do enjoy, and by finding a program that allows me to do
it on the computer, I find that I stick with it. I honestly think finding ways to
make these things fun helps me to stick with them. And I HAVE to stick with them,
I don't want to return to where I began.

I hope you find your journey to be as enjoyable as I did. Good luck!

Here is a site that may help you decide which diet is for you. Weight
Watchers has been the one for me because I can eat what I like ... it's
not a fast loss which usually produces a fast gain and too few calories
and drains you of your energy BUT it works in a healthy way. You need to
supplement your New Way of Eating (NWE) with a multi Vitamin, maybe a
flax, fish, borage capsule and loads of Water. Good Luck~

Anny,

I agree that measuring portions is a big part of any program. If you
don't know how much you're eating, how can you control it?

Measuring cups and scales are a great way to recalibrate our eyes to
what a real portion is. Years of restaurant eating and super sizing
has skewed most perceptions of how much one portion of food is. After
a while, you get a sense of portion size.

Of course, if the scale is creeping back up, with no explanation,
going back to measuring is usual a good first tactic.

Best, Diane

Instead of the cabbage soup route how about trying the WW Quick start
program. You start with 20 points per day (very strict) as a way of jump
starting your weight loss. The pdf guide can be found he
http://www.weigh****chers.com/downlo...atingGuide.pdf Once
you finish this program start adding extra points each day to the base menus
to eat all of your target points. This will also give you a good idea of
healthy eating too. Good luck.

Hi, Tina, I have been at goal for 5 years and I still measure my food. Once you begin to measure, it becomes second nature and you don't really think about it.

measuring and weighing has been one of the most important parts in my losing weight. Who knew that a portion of pasta was only one skimpy cup? Lee, who skips pasta rather than eat that little

I have been substituting bulgar for some recipes. It is one point for a
half cup, very good in casserole, and mixed up things, very passable as a
straight side dish, Lee
