You heard of Dr Nick of the Big Fat Greek Diet?

he had protein drinks and vitamins apparently for a year and seemed to
survive ok

Wow!!

Fascinating story, thanks for the link! I'm looking forward to a copy
of his book....

I'm not bothered by hunger pangs...what troubles me is the thought
that my muscles are being canabalized! All the weight-loss accounts
I've come across so far do not deal with that issue....

Yes an interesting story - his book is more or less a diary of how he
managed - basically on 1000 calories a day of protein drinks - you would
think he would also add vegetable juice or something as I wonder how he got
his nutrients etc as a year is a long time

What a great story! Super of this guy staying focused for so long.

"Physician -- heal thyself!" Well this guy sure seems to have done
exactly that!

Very, very impressive!

Yours,

Caleb

I had a court ordered drug rehabilitation counselor who claimed to have
lived almost entirely off of 80 proof distilled spirits and
methamphetamines for over 4-6 months (can't remember if it was 4 or 6).
Anyone think this is possible or was she full of ****?

What???? You mean his book doesn't talk about the "theory" and
"science" behind his undertaking????

Would seem the poorer for it, then. Finally a guy living on protein
shakes -- a medical doctor, to boot! -- and no deliberations of pros
and cons of various dietary scenarios????

really very sad - he had a great opportunity for real data - he didn't even
go into detail about the particular shake he was drinking - somehow gives me
some doubts . . .

Hey, how about that guy, what's-his-name, Andre Beckles or
something?? Apparently second-placed Mr. Olympia when he was middle-
aged -- AND the guy's a VEGETARIAN????

Says something about genetics imo

Genetics, eh?

I think "genetics" is just another word like "laziness" or "God" or
"talent" or "love"...a nice handy word we use when we don't really
know what's happening (for example, there isn't any such quality as
"laziness" -- we aren't "lazy" but "not interested").

Well, anyway, thanks for the ref -- and the warning! I think I'll try
to get a copy from the library now. I really don't understand
publishers and editors these days...what the heck is the point of such
a memoir from a doctor with no "science" in it??? He's just another
fat guy at the ballpark then.
