Maybe, but I LOVE fruit! Besides, toast and jam doesn't have the vitamins

Delish!

For my mid-morning snack today, I made myself this Nepalese treat:

AAM LHASSI

1 cup diced fresh mango
1 orange
1 tablespoon honey
1 cup milk (I used nonfat, worked great)
1 pinch rose petals, optional (if you can find them at your health food
store)

Blend in blender. Enjoy! Yumm....

Sounds good. I don't know if one can get fresh mangos in Virginia at
this time of year -- but then, I've never tried.

Chris

If you have any ethnic markets, their prices are usually better and
sometimes the produce is better quality.

Martha

We definitely have ethnic markets. I'll have to check out a couple of
them. I don't know whether mangos are in season, though.

Our Meijer store had mangos a couple of weeks ago.

I still think that even 100 grams of protein is perhaps a stretch.

i

I eat 900-1200 calories a day, about 100+ grams of protein give or

take.
It
may not be exactly 50%, but close to it and the majority of what I eat.

I
log everything I eat, keeping track of % of carbs, fiber, fat and

protein
so
I think I know what I eat. I did Atkins for 3 yrs and ate allot more

then
that and my kidneys are tested every 6 months and are fine!

Let's see, suppose you eat 1800 calories per day. Your protein intake
(50%) would then be 900 calories. Given 4 calories per gram of
protein, you eat 225 grams of protein per day.

according to www.nutritiondata.com, 87 grams of turkey breast with
skin removed contains 26 grams of protein (the rest mostly water).

So, if you eat 225 grams of protein per day, it would be equivalent

to
eating 225*87/26 = 752 grams of turkey breast, or 1.66 lbs of turkey
breast.

In terms of egg whites, you would need to eat 4+ lbs of egg whites.

Or 2+ lbs of whitefish.

Something suggests to me that you are not eating an equivalent of

1.66
lbs of turkey breast per day.

Your numbers are likely wrong. You probably are not eating as much
protein as you are claiming. If they are not wrong, you need to
change your diet before your kidneys give way.

You do not need even a half of your claimed protein intake to grow
large, strong muscles.

i

I would like to know the recommended %s of each. I've heard

30,40,30
and 40,30,30. TIA

Thank you for your support!!!
Last Wednesday I ate 136 grams, on Thursday, I ate 100.4 grams and on Friday
I ate 91 grams... so it is possible.

I don't know why he always thinks he knows better and argues with me... He
has too much free time.

So, then, you eat an equivalent of a pound of turkey breast or other
lean meat per day?

You're implying that Perple Gyrl couldn't be eating this much protein?
She says she's tracking what she eats. So do I, and I always eat at
least 100 grams of protein a day. And it doesn't typically involve a
pound of turkey. Here's an example -- from this past Friday.

2 eggs -- 12g
3 slices f/f cheese -- 15g
1 slice whole wheat bread -- 4g

1 cup salad -- 1g
1/8 cup soybeans -- 3g
2/3 cup miso soup -- 2g
1 salmon/cucumber sushi roll -- 10g
4 pieces assorted sushi -- 42g

energy bar -- 11g

5.3 oz. salmon -- 39g
5 oz. green beans -- 2g
3 meringue cookies -- 1g

1 cup f/f cottage cheese -- 26g

TOTAL: 168g (43% of my calories for the day) -- A bit more than
average; the sushi lunch provides lots of protein for relatively
modest food consumption.

BTW, I've always eaten a lot of protein, and my kidneys seem to be
doing just fine.
