Default June 11 WI - Prairie Roots

My current weight: 158.6 lbs
Weight change since my last recorded weight: -0.8 lbs

Mid-week my scale was showing 157s, but then the work stress of
launching one of our new web products caught up with me and I caved to
the call of doughnuts and chocolate. A couple of not-great food days
pushed the weight back up but still, -.8 down is a respectable loss.
As long as I have more good days than bad, and keep starting over,
I'll get to goal.

Rain, rain, go away. I bike commuted to work once this week. Boo! The
weather hasn't cooperated much at all this season. Although I'm not
doing much aerobics activity, I am doing some kind of strength
training/conditioning almost every day.

Met my new friend again last evening. We viewed a photography exhibit,
ate dinner (chicken skewers and salad), and ended the evening by
taking the light rail train to the MSP airport station where the
photographs of one of his friends is on permanent display. It's
amazing how much there is to do that's free or cheap.

It's a loss and that's wonderful. If anyone knows what stress can do it's
me, so
I know where you're coming from, but you have a great attitude towards the
program being a lifetime commitment and with an attitude like that you will
get where you want to be!

We've had lots of rain here overnight and the first part of today, but right
now
the sun is out and it's beautiful. DH's birthday yesterday and it was too
late
by the time I got home from work to cook his favorite meal - turkey, so just
got one into the oven a bit ago. Now that I have the turkey cooking and
the
weather is nicer I think I will venture outside for a few hours and get some
yard work done.

Sounds like things are going well between you two. HUGS
I'm happy for you and hope the relationship continues to grow and
get better and better each day :-)

Thanks Fred. After an OP weekend (weekends being my downfall) and the
stresses of last week behind me, I'm hopeful that I can have an extra-good
showing on the scale this week.

I bet you worked harder to keep the rip-roaring pace of 4 mph than you did
for the fast-as-lightning pace of 20 mph. No wonder you can't stand or sit.
Lying down probably doesn't feel much better.

Your message about the virtues of taking things slow and steady came at
just the right time. It was precisely what I needed to hear at this exact
moment. My need for certainty, when I've assented to being OK with
ambiguity, was all set to push the panic button, and I could feel the
pressure to rush headlong into making a fool of myself beginning to build.
I'm practicing a whole book of new behaviors, and the temptation to fall
back into old habits is almost too great to resist. Now I have a new
mantra to breathe: Slow and steady (in breath). Slow and steady (out
breath). I am taking things slow and steady.

Thanks Brenda. Sometimes the only thing that keeps me going forward is the
knowledge that I get to start over every time I slip. 2nd chances, 3rd
chances, umpteenth chances...

Thanks too for the encouragement and kind thoughts. I'm trying to take one
day at a time and not borrow trouble from tomorrow. Things are what they
are. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the new things I'm seeing and doing and
appreciating the very pleasurable companionship.

Congrats on the small but loss loss!

You know you can move it down and so each week make the right moves.

Rain here this week, too from what I've heard. I did complete the
century route which was actually only about 94 miles. Fought a gory
headwind slowing progress occasionally to a rip-roaring 4 miles per
hour. Then abate and 20mph, and then back down to 7 mph.

And slow and steady works with things other than weightloss. So
congrats on that front, too.

Uh oh. I thought for sure the weekend's century ride and decade hike would
bode well for a downward movement of the scales. If you don't WI today,
there are only two Wednesday WI opportunities remaining in June. (As if
you needed me to point out the obvious.)
