Default Food & Exercise -- 6/16/2007

I've spent the day downtown at the German Wine Society National
Conference. Today was the main day of the event; tomorrow there's
just a brunch. I ate and drank way too much today. This was a
planned splurge day, but I am unhappy with myself for eating a lot of
cheese during the two tasting seminars (one morning, one afternoon),
as I pretty much ran out of appetite by dinner and ate less than half
of the excellent meal that was served. I haven't had enough wine to
get drunk at all, but combined with all the eating it's enough to feel
excessive. (At the tasting seminars it did really help to eat
something to avoid being affected too much by the wine -- but I could
have just done more dumping and less drinking!) Anyway, here we
are...

Food:

* 8:15 (room service): oatmeal w/ raisins, brown sugar, & a little
skim milk; 1/2 grapefruit
* 10:00 -- 12:00 (tasting seminar): 3 oz. cheese; 1 small piece bread;
4 oz. wine
* 12:30 (conference lunch): ginger lime shrimp w/ asian slaw (3
shrimps); curried lamb; chicken roganjosh; chocolate mousse; 4 oz.
wine
* 2:00 -- 4:00 (tasting seminar): 3 oz. cheese; 12 oz. wine {These
were awesome wines!}
* 6:30 -- 8:30 (conference dinner): passed tapas -- ~ 8 small items of
various meats and fish; salmon tartare w/ guacamole (small serving, of
which I ate about half); "trio of lamb noisette gorgonzola, pork
medallion noisette, & veal with sweetbread & mushroom ragout" (serving
was maybe 2 oz. of each -- ate less than half); German potato pancake
(ate a couple of bites); small chocolate creme brulee; 4 oz. wine

Exercise: None of significance -- walked a couple of blocks to buy
some Diet Pepsi
