Stir fry with soy sauce or ponzu sauce, add red pepper or something
spicy. I love them this way!

Normally I love just plain old frozen veggies nuked in the microwave. But
lately they are starting to seem so bland and boring. Short of cream sauce
or butter, what do you do to make them tastier?

Dill sprinkled over top.
Nuke 'em with chicken broth for quick veggie soup.
Pour on the salsa!
Parmesan cheese-a little goes a long way.
And--I know, not all will agree--I use butter. I never gave it up, and
still put a pat in my tomato soup, on top of my broccoli, and on baked
sweet potatoes. It keeps me sated. I count it, just like any other food.

Go to the spices aisle in the store. Pick up the first thing that catches
your eye. Try it on every kind of vegetable once. If you don't find
anything it's good with, keep it.

Absolutely! And don't worry about out-of-the-box combinations.
White wine with beef isn't forbidden. Neither is ginger on
cauliflower or dill on asparagus.

Go to the produce section of the store. Look at all the different
types
of veggies not just your usual. Any type that you've never tried, now
is the time. Even the ones you can't pronounce their name. Any type
you haven't had in a year or more, same deal.

Go to the spice aisle and follow Patricia's advice.

You now have about 50 types of veggie times 100 types of spice
or herb. Check back in 20 years and report when it's time to
repeat a combination! Then it will be time to discuss cooking
methods. The low carber comment - Who knew there were other
ways to cook brocolli than deep fried? ;^)

I often throw my lean meat portion in (i. e. piece of fish, cut up
chicken, etc). Broth really adds taste (i.e. Oxo cube or bovril or
other basic broth). Throw in some soy sauce or teriaki sauce, onion
powder, lemon juice, wine vinegar (I like taragon vinegar, lots of
flavour). Lots of ways to tart it up.

I eat a LOT of steamed veggies. I discovered I feel deprived when I eat
a lot of cold salad, but somehow if its a big hot bowl of veg in broth
with the meat in, it feels more satisfying.

Herbs, garlic?

Garlic gets old, but I don't have much experience with herbs and spices
beyond garlic, pepper, etc. Any suggestions on specific herbs?

A little grated nutmeg is good on brussels sprouts, cabbage, and
carrots.

Toss with homemade or bottled salad dressings using mustards, herbs and
garlic. Use low salt soy or teriyaki sauce too.

I made a recipe with oyster sauce last night. It was awesome! My DH loved
it (and he turns up his nose at oysters and was very skeptical about liking
it.) I won't post the whole recipe. Here's a link to it:

Try it and you'll probably love it too.

This sounds good. I have some tofu in the fridge that I need to use - think
I'll give this one a try.

Some go well with a squeeze of lemon. I personally use herbs - especially
dill weed. But thats a personal preference.

A few months ago, I started adding fresh ginger to my stir-fried veges.
The flavour is amazing!

I can prepare a vege dish in about 15 minutes (with pre-cut veges). I
use carrots, broccoli, french beans, mushrooms, and almost anything
else I have in my fridge,

I add some olive oil to the pan, get it sizzling hot. Throw in sliced
onions, ginger salt and pepper, and stir fry. Add the veges, and few
mins later, it's all done! Try it, easy to do and flavourful, and you
can't get bored cause you can use different veges each time.....
