Default Resisted a big temptation

Well, DH isn't actually on a "diet" but is trying to avoid the junk food and
is generally supportive of my dieting efforts. I know that if he had gotten
a frito pie or a pan pizza for one, I'd have had hell not giving in myself!
I find that in some ways it's better if people don't know that you're
dieting because it can sometimes seem like everyone's watching what I get
for lunch and analyzing it. Since we moved, I haven't told anyone here that
I'm dieting. When I was offered donut holes at the Sunday school class, I
just declined politely and said I have blood sugar issues. So far, no one's
noticed anything out of the "norm" with me and I plan to keep it that way.
I'm going to have the way I eat, healthy veggies and lean meats be my "norm"
for always.

Great Stuff! Proud of you.

What is your opinion: Do you think it is easier to resist temptation when
you're with someone else aho is also on a diet? I'm asking this, because
nobody knows about my diet and it is pretty hard.

I'm proud of myself and DH. We went to the high school football game

and
all around us people were eating frito pie, pizza and nachos which

smelled
so good. We didn't give in to the temptation. We triumphed over our
odor-induced cravings. We did have a small portion of cheese (5/8 oz a
piece, which was all we had left), for me 5 multi-grain crackers, a

glass
of
blush wine and topped it off with sugar-free strawberry jello. I have

come
in right around my calorie limit for the day (1530). I just had to

"share"
my joy.

That really does make things a lot easier, doesn't it? I use the same
"blood sugar issues" explanation when warranted and I found it gets me out
of situations faster and easier without getting into a discussion or debate.
I don't ever mention dieting if I can avoid it all costs.

Excellent! Better than I'd have done, I'm sure :-). My strength is
getting back on track promptly after such events, but I do eat more at
them. I guess I still don't handle that sort of temptation very well,
but it seems to work out.

Sometimes I think it would be nice to suddenly be somewhere where no
one knew I used to be fat. I just get tired of talking about it all
the time. I mean, mostly people are giving me compliments, but then
we get into all kinds of "how did you do it" discussions, and mostly
nothing I say will affect anything they do anyway. And of course
anyone new I meet promptly hears about it from someone else, so I
never just get to be a normal-weight person -- always some sort of
weight-loss poster girl.

I really do need to try to get a new driver's license. Even store
sales clerks get into these discussions with me.

Very well put Chris. You expressed what I've gone through to a tee. I've
said before how grateful I am that 98% of the people in my new gym (new
since Jan) didn't know me pre-weight loss and it was like a safe harbor
where I could go and just be a person instead of the "chick that lost all
that weight." A few people know about it after the fact and could pretty
much care less.
