I've switched to the dark side

I used to wrestle with my appetite all day long, and now its not even a factor -- I'm barely hungry at all. I doubt that I am eating much more Calorie-wise then I was before, and am probably eating less. I've lost six pounds in the last five days. Water weight, yup, I know. I realize the switch-over is a risk. Risk of what? The risk of failure, such as gaining weight instead of losing. Why would you gain weight simply by switching to low carb? If you are counting calories, and are eating less calories than you burn, you can't gain weight. A lot of people have really succeeded on lc, so I wouldn't blame the diet itself. Low-carb is less forgiving when you screw up, though. Its just a matter of my staying on the wagon. |

In my opinion, there's no more risk of failure or to health with low-carb than with any other reasonable macronutrient ratio. |

I've lost six pounds in the last five days. Water weight, yup, I know. Typical low carb result. Not unknown on other plan types. I realize the switch-over is a risk. If lc eating doesn't work out for me, I'll take the hit and go back to counting calories. Given the time scale dieting works on - please stick with it at least 6 months. On another note, I've moved my exercise from last thing in the evening to first thing in the morning. It makes a big difference because now I don't "run out of time" (and not exercise) at the end of the day. I'm an afternoon person. I exercise in the morning because it's then like brushing my teeth - not optional. |
