We doctors don't get much nutrition training in medical school. So when
my patients started coming to me on the Atkins Diet, I frankly didn't
know what to tell them. Atkins' recommendations certainly seemed at
odds with what little I was taught. So I decided to try to figure out
the truth for myself.
What I was first struck by is that many critics
of the diet hadn't even read any of Atkins books! So first things first--
I first every edition. Then I went to the medical library and dug
though the 30 years of research done on low carb diets.
I put all the
research I found on a new website I created:
http://www.AtkinsFacts.
org
I would love everyone's feedback.
Basically I started to become
really concerned about the long-term welfare of my patients that have
chosen this path and I wanted to share my research with others.
Please
check out http://www.AtkinsFacts.org and let me know what you think,

This guy has been posting to most of the Yahoo! LC newsgroups over the
last week. Don't bother checking out his site. The 'facts' he posts
are the usual garbage about how dangerous LC is.

He claims there are NO studies out there supporting LC, which just
goes to show how limited his alleged research was.

If you want to know what he's REALLY about, you can find his bio he

http://www.veganmd.org/bio.html

That it's listed on a VEGAN site kind of says a lot, doesn't it?

No need to check your obviously biased website. Low-carb is doing much
better at helping me control my blood sugars than anything else ever has.

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking with it.

IMO you are an opportunist - no more no less. Your website:
http://www.veganmd.org/

shows your real agenda - which isn't the health of your patients, but
an attempt to push veganism by deceit.
I noticed you carefully avoided posting a link to your vegan site from
your newest one.

Just another irresponsible regurgitation of the old-school conventional
wisdom. You really do need to catch up on nearly a century of research.
I suggest you start with a good book on nutritional biochemistry, such
as Stipanuk. Then start going through the studies of diabetes, aging,
obesity, and atherosclerosis. Then try to objectively evaluate the likely
health and quality-of-life consequences to people of weight loss, blood
sugar control, and proper regulation of caloric intake. Then look at the
many current studies showing the advantages of ketogenic diets over
conventional methods. Then check and see how many people are
finding success on low carb diets after conventional methods failed
them, and living healthily and happily as a consequence. Then see if
you still feel like polluting the web with propoganda.

Your web site is probably funded by pasta, potatoe, or rice interests.

I thought this sounded odd and I don't believe he's a real doctor
either. LOL

People should not get wiped out about the opinion or presentation of
another.

Is your lifestyle working for you? If it is, good. You don't need my
support or denials. It works for you.

Tell the guy whose ass smells bad because he's had TOO many carbs today to
take a hike and maybe post somewhere else if he wants to stir something up.
In the meantime, eat your veggies and get some exercise!

Give up Michael - if you weren't coming at us from the stance of a vegan
involved with animal activists, your point of view might be looked at and
acknowleged without the derision that it has been met with when you've
posted this same message in many LC Yahoo groups.
