Martha, have you tried growing your own kale? DH and I are planning to
plant kale and swiss chard this fall. I understand that here in NC we
can plant started plants in about two weeks.

When I lived in a house, I had a huge garden. I grew lots of veggies,
including kale and swiss chard. Now I live in a studio apartment and grow
only herbs.

Ah! I didn't realize that. I have an outdoor herb garden but I need to
plant some indoor herbs for the winter. I will miss my basil :-/ Oh
well, at least the rosemary will be available to me all winter. I want
to plant at least basil, cilantro and parsley for the winter (indoor)
herb garden. I also need to make a bunch of batches of pesto to freeze.
Maybe this weekened...

My cats attacked my indoor herb garden last winter. I even tried
growing them their own cat grass and catnip that was easier to get to,
but one of them has a thing for parsley. I'll bet they stay away from
basil though. Any thoughts?
