Default Need Weight loss help

I am struggling to lose weight and although I lost 20 pounds from January to
April 2007 I have already put 10 pounds back on.

I need help getting remotivated. Are there any free diet web sites.
Although I love my husband dearly, he is really a bad influence. Last night
he brought home pizza and I have a real hard time saying no thanks.

Are there any online support groups that can help me bolster my resolve?

Thanks for listening.

We are basically an online support group, although activity has dwindled a
bit over the past couple years. There are many websites that offer
resources and info, but I don't know of any support type. Feel free to post
here.

I'm the one who finishes all my family or friend's meal cause I don't
like wastage.
As much as I hate exercise, I'm forced to do it. I do 30min cardio 3-4
times a day to maintain my weight. I try to eat lots of fibre too
which helps.

I use this newsgroup for inspiration, conversation, ideas, and
motivation. I've been posting here, albeit infrequently, for about seven
years.

Hang around--read some of the postings from the "regulars." Many of us
have been at goal for a loooonnnnggg time, but prefer to stay connected
and check in for--well, all the reasons I listed above. Try to avoid the
recent spate of spammers--you'll soon see who the serious posters are.

As for websites, try these:

http://www.fitday.com (online journaling, calorie counting, nutrition
tracking--for free!)
http://www.stumptuous.com (inspiration!)
http://www.exrx.net (exercise and iron)
http://www.crossfit.com (more exercise and iron!)

You'll notice a lot of us are big on exercise. It's important. And not
many ascribe to a particular "diet," but instead concentrate on what
works for us individually over the long haul, our Way Of Eating or Way
Of Life. You'll also see the term ELEM: Eat Less, Exercise More! It's my
favorite "diet."

Good luck, hang around. Oh--once in a while you'll need some flame-proof
panties.

As Kathleen Turner, you probably have many film fans who would provide
support.

Just review your awesome legs in the movie: "Crimes of Passion" -quite
inspiring

I weighed in this morning at 236.5. I have a long way to go.

Today I kinda put my foot down with my husband and told him that whenever he
treats himself to food not to offer any to me. He said OK. So lets see how
I can do.

He is a good man, dont get me wrong. He indulges and wants me to share in
it with him.

Hee Hee. I only wish I was the famous Kathleen Turner. I was once a
Kathleen Minor until I married a Turner.

I use to be thin when I was young. I have dreams of beaing thin again and
running like the wind. Then I wake up and....well lets just say 'gravity
sucks'.

Hi Kathleen,

Yes, a long long time to go. I started off at almost 300 myself, have done a
little yo-yo'ing, but now I'm really on-track. It takes determination, but
more than anything else it takes patience.

Losing weight, I think, boils down to two things. Having the gumption to
actually do it, and knowing enough about it to get the job done.

Do you know all about how calories work? Do you know how many calories you
burn off in a day? If not, there are calorie calculators and weight loss
calculators all over the Internet. And, hey, exercise isn't necessary but it
does help.

There are so many diets out there - books and websites - that are just crap.
If you haven't done so, you need to go on a knowledge quest. Learn how to
measure everything you eat and accurately count calories. Its not hard to
do. Thinking about it is harding then doing it, really it is.

Low-carb diets work quite well, too. I'm on a low-carb diet myself. Low-carb
is a different way of looking at things, and you count grams of
carbohydrates rather than calories. In the end, though, you still have to
limit your food choices, eat less food then your body uses, and stick with
it for the long haul -- that is the only way to lose.

You also have to be willing to commit to changing your lifestyle in terms of
the way you eat. You have to sign up for the lifetime program. Otherwise you
will forever lose weight, go back to pigging out, gain weight, go back on a
diet... so much stress and life is so short: commit yourself to beating this
thing and you will win.

Thanks for getting back on my questions -- to me, that says you're serious
about this & wanting to get started. I guess my next question would be, do
you have a solid plan for losing this weight, such as, "I'm going to eat x
amount of calories/carbs per day, and eat these particular kinds of foods in
such-and-such quantities"? Or do you need a bit of assistance with your
planning? Hey, if you have planned things out, btw, tell us what you're
doing. A reality check of any plan you may have or come up with won't hurt
one bit, & you're likely to get some really great suggestions.

In either case, you've come to the right place. I'm rootin' for you!
