Now my favorite web sites dont get overwritten
All,
I found a great program for favorite websites called just urls. One feature I really love is that is that I can open the favorite web site in a new browser if I want. Regular favorites dont do that, they overwrite the site I was looking at. (Which has annoyed me for a long time as I switch between favorites....) I got it from http://justurls.com First I thought it was a bit simple - but then it grew on me - I guess I got adicted! I bought it, and now my favorites are getting organised at last. I love it! This is lo-carb browsing indeed! FS |

All you have to do in Internet Explorer to get URLs to open in a new window
is click on Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and uncheck Reuse windows for launching shortcuts. Hi,
I tried that and favorites still don't open in a new window (only my mess of shortcuts work that way). I'm sticking with this new program. Its neat. I have my right tray clik set to Google and boy is that handy! Yours, Felix |

The only thing I miss in Internet Explorer is the page search highlight facilities available on the Google Toolbar, which isn't really part of IE anyway! In Firefox you can choose to have your History or Bookmarks (equiv to Favorites) opened up as a list on your left hand side of the screen, and you can right click to open your favorite page in a new tag or in a new window. The urls program you recommended seems v similar to some utilities I used back in the days when I was running OS8 on an G3 and OS7 on a PowerBook 520c... The Google tool bar is even handier. Has a great popup killer and a handy
autofill. To get firefox, click: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ I second the Firefox recommendation. I only recently started using the TAB feature of it rather than opening new windows for things -- that way I have several different web pages up that are easy to access just by clicking a tab for it and I don't have to chase all over my screen or Windows taskbar to find them because they all use the same space at the same time. I also like the Personal Toolbar (a bar across the top with the links I like the most). Between the personal toolbar and the pop-up blocker I'm pretty happy with it. I only use IE when I have use Windows Update (no choice in the matter) or on other rare pages that pretty much REQUIRE you to use IE to see it properly. BTW, pretty much ALL browsers have an autofill feature -- you just have to set it in the tools/preferences area. -- Saffire 205/144/125 - 5'1.5" Atkins since 6/14/03 Progress photo: http://photos.yahoo.com/saffire333 |

Thanks for the suggestions but guys, I use this cute program for other
reasons as well. It is less clicking to get where I want to go. I have set the buttont text (font) different on my important favorites and can locate them quicker than I can blink. Thanks, Felix |
