Default Fallen off the Atkins wagon

Hello all,

I have fallen off the wagon. It has been a long 3 weeks but I made one
slide, which turned into two, which turned into stopping. I have been off
for the past 7 days and I am miserable. I actually miss it! I can't even
believe I said *that*. I have never missed a way of eating in my life! lol.
I guess in a way, Atkins has its own little world (which I love, BTW) and it
is nice to be able to go to Search and see over 3,000 hits for low carb
communities, recipes, products to help and etc. It's almost as if it is a
religion in some ways! LOL! I think my main problem is that I need a lot of
support and instead of asking for it, I have said nothing. I guess because I
always feel I would be bothering people. I have been thinking a lot this
weekend and I know the only way to get this weight off, is to do the work. I
know that I have to get serious and stop playing at changing my eating
habits. I have decided to get back on the plan and be serious about it this
time. I can't give in to every little craving and I have to force myself to
let go of my carb addiction. I don't want to become a diabetic or have blood
pressure problems. My mom just got diagnosed with hypertension and that
scares me. I know I don't want that. She is the first person in our family
to ever have it, although, they say it is hereditary. Anyway, I know that I
will not get help and support unless I stop being afraid and ask for it. so
for now on, that is what I will do. You don't have to respond back, I was
just letting some junk out and voicing some thoughts aloud! Thanks for
listening! I learn so much from you all in your triumphs and your
challenges!

Isn't it amazing how one slip can totally derail us? (I have
found that a well-planned and though-about cheat can be
okay--well, I've only tried that once, but it worked.) That
possibility of derailing is why I have to look at this as a WOE
and not a diet. If I get sloppy about how I eat, I will, no
doubt, be back to my pre-LC ways, with obvious weight gain.

Brush yourself off and hop back on. Then use that willpower that
you have to stick to it!

Of course we have to respond back , ... with a big {{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}.
Now that you know how much better you feel on LC... and that you
really want to do this!! .. Get yourself back on track.. one meal at
a time.

And you're so right... if you need help and support just ask. This NG
is a valuable resource.. but you can't get all you need from it if you
don't participate *smile*.

As for being a bother... don't think that for a second.
look at it in this way, .. perhaps your question or dilemna or moment
of unsteady will help others who are lurking, or who aren't asking for
support either.

we're all in this together !
Wishing you happy days ahead , and the courage to ask for support, and
the wisdom of the many here on the NG to help you.

One of the things that i have been told repeatedly by people (many in
the medical profession), is to plan days of indulgence and "cheats".
You will find it easier to stick to your eating plan that way. And if
you plan those cheats, you might find that the food you once so enjoyed
so much will be unpalatable for some reason for another

I LOVE popcorn. Went to see Rundown last night and I got my usual large
popcorn (planned cheat). You know what. I can't eat that anymore. .
I got bloated and uncomfortable .. the scale showed 157.2 this AM .. but
expected that. But the saddest thing for me is, I can't eat popcorn
that much popcorn anymore. Next time, I have to go small .. heh .. talk
about dieting by aversion ROFL

I think that my problem with the flour, breads and pastas is the high
niacine count in them. While most people are sensitive to it. I'm
actually allergic. Found out the hard way ..

That would explain my stuffy nose last night and the bloating.

My allergies have calmed right down since I started lc .. this is
usually my worst time of year next to spring, and I've only taken 3
doses of my allergy meds and NONE of my puffers!!!

Yes I have a TON of food, animal and environmental allergies.

Brush yourself off and hop back on. Then use that willpower that
you have to stick to it!

I agree!! You will feel much better for doing that!

heh .. personally, I would think that planned cheats shouldn't happen
until you are several weeks if not over a month into this WOE. Makes
the consequences that much more obvious!

**gonna miss my popcorn **HELLASIGH**

Nice thing about Atkins is you can start anytime, even right now!

Why don't you punish yourself for you wicked ways by having a big chicken
breast basted with garlic butter! ;-)
To further punish yourself , have a nice long walk around the park!

Bet ya this type of punishment never felt better! ;-)

I sort-of hope that is true. I ALMOST hope it is sickening.

How much higher was that for you?

Yes, well, that does reinforce the lesson.

I think that my problem with the flour, breads and pastas is the high
niacine count in them. While most people are sensitive to it. I'm

Hmmmm. I frequently get very congested when I eat out. I often
wonder why. It occurs at restaurants of many ethnicities though.

My allergies have calmed right down since I started lc .. this is
usually my worst time of year next to spring, and I've only taken 3
doses of my allergy meds and NONE of my puffers!!!

That's wonderful!!!!!

Yes I have a TON of food, animal and environmental allergies.

Well it wasn't sickening .. but ya know .. the whole 30 - 45 minutes of
pleasure that I got eating that popcorn didn't come close to over night
feeling of bloating

I got bloated and uncomfortable .. the scale showed 157.2 this AM .. but
expected that.

I was 164.6 the morning before .. so it wasn't all that high and it
wasn't all that discouraging either. I do believe that it might be a
precursor to TOM .. my lower back is KILLING me right now.

Hmmmm. I frequently get very congested when I eat out. I often
wonder why. It occurs at restaurants of many ethnicities though.

might be a common seasoning? Have you even been allergy tested? Maybe
it's the preservatives that are sending you loopy?

That's wonderful!!!!!

DEFINITELY .. I've usually already been on my sertoidal puffer by this
time. heh .. I've not even filled the bloody script yet!

until you are several weeks if not over a month into this WOE. Makes
the consequences that much more obvious!

Safer me thinks .. if you are to close to the end induction, I would NOT
recommend this. It could trigger cravings that might be well nigh
impossible to overcome if you had a sugar or carb addiction
