Remember Dr ATKINS!!!!!!!!!!!
REGARDLESS of the trolls and grammar police, I'll second your thought.
I was truly saddened when Dr. Atkins died. I had spent so many years reading his books, websites based on his books, etc, that I felt as if I had lost a friend. Sure, *I* lost the weight, and yes, I'm not even on Atkins, but I also wouldn't have done it without him. Rest in peace, Doc. Jake. "Vile" wrote in message om... I just wanted to post my thought. I lost 71 pounds thanks to his teachings and I feel sad that I will never be able to thank him. |

Irregardless Dr Atkins has helped many people. Why should he not of benefited from what he did? I never said he shouldn't have nor that he didn't. Charlatans make money all the time. Google me if you doubt that. Are you just bored? lol. Hardly. Why not get a hobby, or if you really enjoy usenet so much, post on a newsgroup that talks about something you ARE interested in? I just don't get it. Obviously. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, I'm just curious about your though process... See above. |

I dont see any other high profile person who works with helping people lose weight to turn down any monetary benefits. Even the YMCA takes your money. Well put, except for the "irregardless," and using "not of" instead of "not have," and several other gramatical no-nos. Grammar is important, even on Usenet. I'm afraid that I had to chuckle at the suggestion that it is "suspicious" that Dr. Atkins had no provision for
a thorough autopsy in his will. I have a will, as do all of my friends. We're ages 50 - 80. Not a single one of us has a provision in our will for a thorough autopsy when we die. There I agree. I'm sad we didn't get to see how he aged -- I mean he was in great shape for a 71 yo, but from 70-80 is when you really see the effects of a lifetime of habits, good or bad, it seems. That would have silenced the naysayers! You can't argue with that! I find it suspicious that there were no provisions made for a thorough autopsy in his will. What WAS the condition of his coronary arteries? |

i did have one friend who had an autopsy specified in his will: he was the
head of the pathology department and had done many thousand autopsies himself and thought of it as one last tribute to his department. He died on his exercise bike, in his mid seventies, one of the most intelligent people I ever met. I myself would not worry about the long term effects of atkins on the heart, as if you remained on atkins that would indicate you had lost weight and kept it off. No doctor I know would ever trade the high blood pressure and other effects of excess weight for a few (very hypothetical) points on your ldl. This is the fundamental tradeoff that makes the whole issue moot. "BJPruett" wrote in message ... Dr Atkins has helped many people. Why should he not of should not HAVE, not of heh Does the American "get off of the horse" thing bug you too? What's with the extra 'of' that keeps appearing? Especially in a country that has done away with extra vowels in words like 'neighbour' and 'colour.' Even more annoying is that it's starting to trickle through to this country as well (along with 'nucular' and 'mischeevious' and, dare I say it, 'aluminum' which I'm sure will cause some dissent) Rachel (Noo Zeeland) |
