Default fruitcake

I used Lesanne's recipe, omitted the pecans (I bought some yesterday, but
couldn't find them when I was making the cake, found them in the trunk of my
car this morning), added 1/4 cup candied cherries and 1/4 cup candied citrus
peel and 1 tsp artificial rum extract. It is good and works out to 12
servings at 3 points per slice. I made it in a regular loaf pan, so the
slices could be cut in half for 1.5 points each.

Neat. For the base did you do the coffee one, or the chocolate?
I am considering the nuggets again here pretty soon. Of course I have a
bunch of no pudge in the freezer now.

I used coffee for the base. It really turned out great. I was surprised as
it was looking kind of like it may be gross or something before I cooked it,
but it wasn't! My grandmother is a big fruitcake fan, I'm going to try it
out on her today too.

Mmmmmmmmm, sounds wonderful! My brother loves mini-chocolate chips in his
fruitcake - am wondering about adding just a teeny bit along with the rest of the
goodies. I've printed out what you did, will let you know if I make any changes
along the way and how it comes out.

UGH! I sooooooooo want to try this, have the recipes and ingredients sitting on
my counter ... no time to even get to heating up the oven. Next week, next week
.... I hope. I did have my first attempt at making toffee last week .. I now have
half a plate left of *not quite english toffee*. LOL! It tastes really great, is
crispy in the fridge (like it should be) but as soon as it goes in your mouth it
turns to caramel. I don't know if I cooked it too long, or not long enough (or
maybe substituted light butter for the butter and subs shouldn't have been
made???). Any toffee making experts out there that can tell me where I went
wrong? LOL
