Dry and red eyes -- suggestions?
Although it might be unrelated to low-carbing, can anyone suggest
anything for red and dry eyes? I'm eating a few protein bars per day along with a lot of almonds (plus the usual tuna, beef, pork rinds, etc). I take a lot of vitamins along with potassium salt. Thanks! |

I take flax oil caps too. I also gave up watching TV. I get to bed now at
~11PM instead of 2AM. All that seems to help. Good luck, Steve :-) "Kramer" wrote in message m... Although it might be unrelated to low-carbing, can anyone suggest anything for red and dry eyes? A google search will get you thousands of hits, and although most seem to be promoting this or that remedy, there's also some good info there which would be worth your while reading. I treat mine by keeping the lids very clean and using lubricating drops several times a day. The eye doctor offered to close up my tear drains, either with plugs or by cauterizing them, but i was too squeamish. If the problem gets worse i might try this. BTW dry eyes are common, particularly as we get older, and i doubt very much that a low-carb diet has anything to do with it. |

Dry and red eyes -- suggestions?
I get this problem when my hormones are out of whack. Flax oil does work,
but for me it causes other problems. Taking a tablespoon of Olive oil also seems to help too. My experience with the artificial tears is that they don't help at all and some brands make things worse. Also, go easy on shampoo until the problem calms down. You told us what you're eating, now, how much water are you drinking? Dry eyes can be a symptom of dehydration. Dry and red eyes -- suggestions?
I've had problems with dry eyes for several years. The artificial tears
help some. However, according to my eye doctor the underlying problem, at least for me, is clogged glands. Apparently there are glands under the lower eyelids that secrete a lubricant. She suggested soaking a soft cloth in hot water and using it as a compress to the lower eyelids (be careful its not too hot - area is very sensitive). Refresh the cloth as it gets cold. After 5 minutes or so, put light pressure against the area just under your lower eyelashes. The effect is to unclog the glands and get the natural lubricant to flow. It helps me - YMMV 215/181/145 "The Queen of Cans and Jars" wrote in message .. . Kramer wrote: Although it might be unrelated to low-carbing, can anyone suggest anything for red and dry eyes?
