Dally, I think I would look much worse if you saw a similar photo of me -- I think
you are right in that the skin can be slow to catch up with physical improvements.
"Train wreck" is exactly the phrase I use when describing my own appearance -- I am
hoping for both of us that our skin will cooperate more in the long run -- just keep
on with your efforts, as I will, and I do believe that something is bound to happen
for us. I agree with others that it is unflattering lighting, etc. etc. that is
hiding your obvious progress.

God has granted me the mercy of not having to see the view of my behind.

Unfortunately, my husband caught it on digital camera when taking a
crowd shot on our canoe trip. I've uploaded it into my profile at
http://www.body-for-life-tracker.com....cfm?id=34&s=B though I
doubt I'll keep it there very long. It's pretty traumatic. I thought I
had made some pretty great progress. I thought my legs were starting to
look muscular and shapely. I thought my skin was getting less lumpy
and... I thought I was near goal.

I can't stop staring at it. It's like a train wreck.

Does anyone have any words of comfort for me? Besides never wear a
bathing suit in public again, I mean?

I don't have alot of comforting words for you Dally, sorry you got a bad
shot of your ass taken. *shrug*

Keep doing what you're doing and eventually you'll lose it. One of my
greatest pleasures since I've lost weight is the loss of the saddle bags
on my hips. There is nothing like the feeling of running your own hand
down your hips/thighs and NOT feeling those, unless its your mates hands
and THEY note it. Granted I still have loose skin and some flab
there, but nothing like it was. I don't remember your stats etc, How
much have you lost all totaled, and in what length of time?

Dally.... you definately look better then you used to. You just need to
find a bathing suit that is more complimentary. It appears that this suit
makes you look worse then you should. I found a great Lands End Takini with
swim shorts at Sears. Don't stop what you are doing and it will get better!

Swim shorts. Good plan. Thanks to you and Jenn for that idea.

Dally, who was glad to be out of skirted suits

This is the one I got from Sears:

I'm 5'6" and I've gone from a high of 244 (when I bothered to measure,
which was after I decided to lose some) down to a low of 175.5 (right
now). When that picture was taken I was probably 178. It has taken me
a long time: I started this transformation in May of 2002.

I agree about losing the saddlebags. Mine are gone, but not forgotten.
The skin is still there. :-(

LOL... Sorrry, I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you...

Ya know - aside from the cottage cheese legs, your shape is amazing !
You've come so far and just looking at the curves your body has and the
definition in your back. You are doing really well.

I always hate butt shots. They are awful. DH got one of me a while back
while I was sunbathing on the cruise ship - I'm laying on my tummy which
means the thighs spread out that much more (force of gravity and flat
surface) and he's up on one of the upper balconies of the ship so he's
getting the top angle - talk about horrid.
