Default Hi from Australia.

I suggested Atkins stuff wasn't good before... I do actually like the banana
cake and blueberry muffins.. It's just the shakes and pretend chocolate bars
that I hate... $20 for a box of cake mix is a bit rich though..

Hi all,

Im Kristy from Shepparton, Australia. I started Atkins induction this week
and Im really excited about the whole thing. I ahve been on Ultralite
before, which is similar to Atkins, and was invented by a naturopath here

in
Melbourne. But Atkins is alot stricter and I wanted to try something
different. My faith in low carb diets is goooood as I lost almost twenty
kilos on Ultralite. But I treated it as a crash course thing and

eventually
put back all the weight.
I weigh 90 kilos and eventually wanna get down to 65kgs. Long time, long
wait, but all that time is gonna pass anyway, so where do I wanna be at

the
end of it??
The meat and eggs are making me sick, the thought of another type of

meat
or another egg bear makes me sick each night but by morning, that feeling

is
gone, thank God!
What I want to know is where in Australia I can buy low carb products,
particularly Atkins??

Good luck adn best wishes all!!

Kristy
xx

I'm in oz myself, and would love to tell you that you can get everything
that the US mob can, and that it's all wonderful and lovely, but I won't!
There is a LOT more to Atkins than just meat and eggs, and although it
sounds like a great idea to run out and find a 'low carb alternative' to
everything you've always eaten before, it's usually better that you don't!
If you're really determined that you can't survive without the protein
shakes and bars, you can track down a reasonable variety of protein shakes
especially through health food shops. There are also quite a few bars out
there too, but you'd have to watch the carb counts, as most of them are
produced for the weight lifting lot who aren't scared of a few extra carbs
in their bar....
There's also a fair range of 'sugar free' sweets and chocolate about, but
take it easy if you aren't planning on reading the back of the loo door 10
times more than you normally would
Don't forget to include your allowed carbs in your meals or you'll go stir
crazy in no time! best to go for low GI veg such as green and/or leafy types
and cauli, and make sure you drink LOTS of water
Once you get the hang of making meals and snacks that don't include all the
refined carbs, it gets easier every day
