Default feet swelling

Dear group
Thanks for reading this.
I am probably at my heaviest right now. I have 90 pounds to lose and I have
recently began my diet and exercise. I am eating good and began walking to
lose the pounds.
Something is happening though and lately my feet are swelling up quite a
bit. It seems to happen when i stand for along time or sit in one spot for
two long.
I was wondering if anyone else has symptoms like that and if losing some
weight helped it. I am a little worried .
thanks.

I used to but since increasing water and losing it is much better, in fact

medical professional at ONCE, Lee

I dunno. But I do know that my feet went from a UK size 7 to a UK size 5
(sometimes 5 1/2) with the weight loss.......

Thanks so much. I did go and from what he said it is a circulation problem
and that weight loss continued will help me out. He said that I had high
blood pressure too so he gave me some water retention pills to help out.
Thanks for the help though. It would be great to see them decrease. I am in
a 10 womens for canadian sizes now. Next step is the shoe box

First off, have you had your blood pressure checked? Swelling like this
can indicate raised blood pressure.

Secondly, what's the weather like? If it's suddenly turned hot, that
can cause the feet and ankles to object!

Thirdly, are you standing still a lot? You need to get the veins pumping
the blood around, so try to jog on the spot, and keep flexing your feet.

I used to get very swollen feet in hot weather or if I stood for a long
time (I used to teach full time), but it has reduced a lot since I lost
40 lbs. I have another 30 to go, and it just keeps getting better!

Another tip from my doctor: keep you feet higher than your hips when you
sit, and make sure that the WHOLE LEG is supported, not just the feet,
making a bridge over nothing between the bottom and the feet - that does
your legs no good at all.

Hi, Good for you for going to the doctor. I experience swelling when I
stand too long. It's not a problem when I am walking but standing still. I
also have high blood pressure which is under control. I am at a healthy
weight which, I think, makes it easier to control. I also exericise 5 or 6
days out of 7 which helps. Good luck with your weight loss.

I had/have about as much to lose as you.

When I began to lose weight (after the first 25 lbs) these symptoms
stopped, along with tons of other annoying things, like... I wake up
with energy instead of "wondering about the license number of that
truck". However, I got plantar fasciaitis (swelling of the tendon
along the bottom of the foot) from walking too aggressively, and
without the proper footwear. I also used to walk around my house
(which is not wall to wall carpet) in bare feet. Ouch... it took 6
months to begin to heal, and two years to completely heal.

I have a Lazyboy chair and I put my feet above my heart whenever they
feel tired after a long day (some recliners can actually let you lay
back with your feet above your head!). Some slight swelling still
occurs, but not like before.

Also, are you drinking enough water? (I ask myself that question
every day, and 3 times out of 4, I get up and get a glass of water.)

Best wishes!

The Mage
