Has anyone figured out the mathematic formula (fiber -- cal -- fat =
points) to the point calculator? I would like to use it in a spreadsheet

(Calories + (Fat x 4) - (Fiber x 10))/50 = points

I think the UK does not count fiber, IIRC. Otherwise I think the formula
is the same.

This is the Lotus 123 (some of us are ol' school and this is on my
HP200 palmtop which has 123 builtin) and hoping I copied all the
parenthesises correctly

(c3+(4*c4)-(10*(@IF(c54,4,c5))))/50

where c3 is calories
c4 is fatgrams
c5 is fiber

And as said, this is the US formula and this caps fiber at 4.

*smacking my forehead*

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that. I don't use it in my spreadsheet
because I'm usually calculating the points in a recipe, not in a
single serving. If the recipe serves 4, then the cap would be at 16
grams, for example.

Just too complicated to bother with in that application, and only
really applies to very high fiber foods.

Thanks for the reminder, though. I hate giving out bad information!

Actually it's:
POINTS(R) = (calories/50) + (fat grams/12) - (fiber grams/5)

And the patent is public information he

The UK also only counts saturated fat, rather than total fat. I don't think
the formula can be translated unfortunately.
