Default Sugar Alcohols cause terrible gas?

I hate to sound gross, but I have awful gas...really awful...and it's been
going on awhile..

I ate sugar alcohols about 4 or so hours ago...

Is that what it is?

No one knows for sure. However, it should not be a problem as long as
you're not over eating. I have found that if I don't eat too much (like a
serving) candy with SA I don't have gas problems. However, others find that
even a little bit (like less than a serving) causes them problems. It seems
to be a YMMV kind of thing. You'll have to pay attention to see how a
serving affects you -- if you don't like the result, don't eat SA candy with
that version of SA. Some have maltitol and some have lactitol. Check and
see if the both affect you with gas and/or cramps. Sorbitol is used
sometimes, but I don't think I've seen that in candy.

Oh, and whatever you don't, don't pigout on SA candy. Take it from me, I've
eaten 34 peices at a sitting and the result was unbelieveable! Similar to
being in a war zone.....more like having a war zone inside you....

I have. I have sometimes seen isomalt too. Some sugar free hard candies say
splenda on the front, sorbitol on the nutrition panel, and isomalt in the
ingredients list. I still have no idea exactly which ingredient was used
(walmart's sugar free lemon drops, if I remember correctly).

Ouch! I think I maxed out on about 15 pieces once. That was painful.
