If you go to

http://siestasoftware.com/freeware.htm

and download Food Composition, you'll essentially have the USDA
database at your fingertips - not only carbs and calories but fats and
proteins as well.

http://www.fitnesoft.com LifeForm. It's shareware. After using it for
only a day I was so impressed I immediately registered it. I've been using
it almost every day now since last December.

You can download DietPower from www.dietpower.com. It's the only
program on the market that can guarantee reaching a goal weight on a
target date, because it monitors your metabolic rate as you log your
foods, exercise, and weight, and adjusts your calorie budget
accordingly. Besides calories in 11,000 foods, it tracks 32 other
nutrients, as well as calories burned in exercise.

Alternatively, you can look up calories in those same 11,000 foods at
http://calorie-counter.dietpower.com...iecounter.aspx.

The only problem I had with Diet Power was linking stuff at work with
stuff at home. I had to write down what I ate at work and enter it in at
home. They provide a way to use a disk, but this didn't really work.
Maybe they've fixed that by now.

The Hacker's Diet does this too.

Or http://www.delorie.com/health/ns/ or any other USDA-based search
engine.

It does exist, but it isn't a currently active thread. Check the
headers. The message Terry Dunkle (the owner of the program) is
replying to is from November 2003.

Take care,
Carmen

Oh, wow. OTOH in usenet-land, that means it effectively doesn't exist ;-)

And I thought I was doing pretty good with one month retention times.

Very true. G

And I thought I was doing pretty good with one month retention

Oh, I didn't get this from my box. I do have an archive of certain
newsgroups, but in this case I just used Google when I saw there was a
"Reference" message ID in his headers to see the whole thread.
If you're looking for a server with good retention time the German one
(Individual.net) acquits itself very well.

Take care,
Carmen

No need for anyone to buy your prodoct. FitDay is free and does the same
thing.
