Default Without charts and graphs, what is a good low carb meal?

Hello everybody;

I run about 3 to 5 miles a day at about 6 MPH pace. And do lift little
bit of weight. What I have noticed is that I am not losing much
weight, its been about 2 months at 2 to 5 times a week.

I don't really eat much,

Normally I would eat
Breakfast: 1 cup of Large coffee and 1 croissant
Lunch: Cup of soup, Chicken salad or Chicken sandwich and medium soda
Dinner: about half pound of chicken, beef or pork and some salad with
little dressing

some days I'll miss two of the three meal. but once in a while I would
eat a lot, carb and fat.

What am I doing wrong? Should I not have these night of indulgence?

What is a good meal without thinking too much. I dont have time to go
out of my way to find a good healthy restaurant.

What are you really trying to do..?? That menu you listed is not low carb..
and if you *don't have time to think too much* then you really don't care
about what you are eating. No one here is going to lead you by the hand if
you don't want to take on the responsibility for learning about this way of
eating. No one else can do it for you... you have to decide it's what you
want to do and then do it for yourself.

This is a support group.. not a kindergarten class.

Occasional indulgences are fine, and you don't say what level of carbs
you're aiming for, but croissants (where I live) are made with white
flour and you don't say what kind of bread is on your sandwich. Unless
you've found low carb croissants, I'd cut those and keep your bread
down to one slice a day. Try that for a few weeks and see what
happens.

Hmmmmm.. with Assho*es like you, who needs a good support group?

Do you get urges to answer all questions, even if you got nothing to
say?

First of all, I didn't say I had a low carb diet, I said I dont eat
much. At least I didn't think I was eating much.

Second of all, I read lot of info on this, yet I get conflicting
reports, so I was asking about what others in this group had gone
thru. I like some real world experience instead of what books have
said.

thirdly, All you had to say was"Its more complicated than that, you
need to read more books articles." so on and so forth. But no you have
to come off as some kind of sh*thead and start insulting people.

You've got fu*king problems, get a grip on reality. If you got nothing
to say then keep your crap to yourself. I didnt post it so I could say
some smartass remarks from jerk like you. No on asked for it and I am
sure no one in the group appreciated it your unhelpful remarks.

I don't know that you're actually doing anything "wrong". You're
exercising regularly and your eating habits as presented don't look
bad. In order to help though, the folks in here would need some more
information. What is your present age, height and weight? Your
gender? Any health issues (i.e. diabetes)? What are your goals (both
weight and health)?

I'm not completely sure what you're asking for in your post. Are you
asking if your present diet is low-carb, OR are you asking why you
haven't lost much weight eating the diet you've posted OR are you
asking what would constitute a low-carb meal should you decide to try
low-carb? The answer to the first question would be "It depends". If
you only eat one croissant and two pieces of bread (for the sandwich)
a day then the answer would be (relative to the average diet) "Yes".
The answer to the second question would be "If you are taking in only
slightly less food than you need to maintain your weight with your
present lifestyle you won't lose very quickly". The answer to the
third question would be "Your regular third meal, just watch that your
dressing isn't loaded with carbs and drink something carb free with
it".

The bottom line is that it still comes down to Food Intake VS Energy
Needs. Low carb can make it easier for many people to watch the
Intake part of the equation because they find it suppresses their
appetite, but it's not magic. :-)

Take care,
Carmen

Perhaps it was the charming atttitude displayed in the title of your
post. No getsie to playie offended when you started it.

Teeb had plenty to say. Apparently you didn't hear it.

First of all, I didn't say I had a low carb diet, I said I dont eat
much. At least I didn't think I was eating much.

To retitierate Teeb (and others), what is it you want exactly? You are
posting in a lowcarb support forum, what do you think you're going to
get here? Directions to the MET?

Second of all, I read lot of info on this, yet I get conflicting
reports, so I was asking about what others in this group had gone

said.

I'm sorry but you didn't ask for what others experiences were.

thirdly, All you had to say was"Its more complicated than that, you

Perhaps it was your winning topic header that put Teeb in the mood. All
*you* have to say is help, please.

When did you get appointed monitor? If you post in a public forum,
expect to get replies. Teeb's intitled to an opinion same as you.

I'm sure you'll get more flies with honey^^^ splenda next time.

I can relate to your situation. I've been doing loads of exercise 5 or 6
times a week in the past 2.5months and yet not losing as much weight as I'd
like. I run about 15 miles/week and do moderately heavy weight training,
aside from Rockclimbing and Kung Fu. Like yourself, I don't eat much as
well... 1200 - 1600 calories (generally) per day. People have said that I
might not be eating enough causing my body to be in "starvation mode" where
it conserves as much of the calories I eat as possible. It may be the
reason but I (would like to) think it's more because of the muscle weight
I've been gaining. My biceps/quads/hamstrings/calves are a tad more
pronounced now than before. My clothes do feel a little better now too.
onna keep going.

I have made a conscious decision to devote my time on being healthy for the
rest of my and it's not even about losing weight anymore. I still eat
fruits, wholegrain bread, vegetables and meat/fish/poultry but NO sugar
(processed), bread, pasta, noodles, alcohol, fizzy drinks... I've even given
up on diet drinks and sweeteners. If I'm going to live healthy, I have to
let go of my craving for anything sweet so why fool myself and keep eating
artificially sweetened foods/drinks? (Oh I should add that I drink whey
protein supplement shakes 1-2 times a day). Basically, I eat to live - to
fuel my body so that I can do the activities that I love doing. It's not
about satisfying my taste buds all the time anymore.

I had the same attitude as yours towards food until I became frustrated of
not losing much weight and started to write down everything that I put into
my mouth as well as a short summary of the type of exercise I did at a
particular day. I think I lose 1 lb of fat every two weeks, if anything,
but I have stopped fretting... I have the rest of my life to reach my goal
(I only have 10-15 lbs of body fat to lose at 133lbs current weight). I
feel good now and that's what matters.

My advice would be: keep exercising; don't miss any meals - always eat
something when you're hungry - piece of fruit is painless to eat; watch out
for overly processed foods from the supermarket - eat whole foods as much as
possible; you have to sleep well at night at get at least 7 hrs of
continuous sleep (although I still am working on this one); Give up that
croissant and replace it with something with hi-fibre; spend time on your
health and don't be lazy towards it, otherwise it will do the same thing to
you.
