Lisa, how are the kittens?
I'm so sorry! I once had a momma cat who died when her kittens were only 3 weeks old and they all died to. It's so hard to bottle feed kittens unless they are quite a bit older. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. |

Lisa, how are the kittens?
just for future reference.........when feeding v tiny kittens, the problem
isn't so much with feeding them (tho' obviously that's v.imp), but apparently in making sure that they go to the toilet....... A mother cat will lick the kittens at the base of their tummies as part of grooming them when they're very young - which stimulates them to urinate properly. If you're kitten nursing - then damp cotten wool wipes gently in a downward motion from the tummy to the relevant end. We didn't learn this until we lost a litter born to a non-maternal persian despite all our best feeding efforts -- krys UK 157/125.8/126 Started March 1st 2001 GOAL August 16th 2001 and July 22nd 2004 ....working on her cushion... Looking back at my journal, they had just gotten their eyes opened when momma got ran over. The one day she decided to go outside, she gets hit. So mine were not even 2 weeks old. |

Lisa, how are the kittens?
It is a twofold benefit to the kitten, in nature the kitten can't survive
unless there is a mothercat to train it to hunt, some scientists feel that if the mothercat does not survive that the kittens will suffer much less if this function is not preformed, and by cleaning them in this manner and moving every few days, the mother cat keeps the tractable scent to a minimum there fore protecting her young, Lee, who probably has more information than you need or want, Lisa wrote in message ... yea , someone had sent me a webpage with the info on that my neice thinks its gross, that the momma cat does that ...lol Lisa 284.5/279.5/(256.5) 10% |
