Brands are fairly local specific. Try magnesium citrate. I hear it is a good
form but I cannot take citrate forms myself. Chelated magnesium would be
the best. 1000-2000mg per day divided as many times in the day as you can
manage. I usually do 1000mg in the morning 1000 when I get home and 1000
before bed when needed badly. When not needed so badly (allergies are good
etc..) 1 dose per day is enough or I usually forget when things are well
again and I am out of supplements again..LOL

Don't let the goof balls talk you into a balance calcium 2:1 magnesium
supplement. Calcium of any kind makes me worse. Get magnesium only or
magnesium/potasium blends.

Cool, thanks for the suggestion! My husband suffers from severe food
allergies. I'll buy some for him. What are the best brands, from your
experience?

It takes at least a few weeks of supplementation with magnesium to get
results. It is a long term thing. I took mag oxide for years and ended

up
with many bone spurs in my heels. They are subsiding after 2-3 years now

but
I take better magnesium now. Even my pupils of my eyes show the

healthier
look. My sodium nitrite allergy is almost non-existant. Reflux and

heartburn
returns to nothing.

Do some research...you may have found a good aid for your troubles.

Many places use some oil for their fries I cannot tolerate either. Same
effects for me anf my wife.

McDonald's has a sign in the back they use beef tallow but I am not sure
that has been continued or is global.

Do you have any links I can reference? My mother
claims to be extremely
allergic to MSG, yet loves tomatoes. Is it different
when it is in a
natural veggie as opposed to a created ingrediant?

Sure, I did a quick search :
http://www.ific.org/publications/brochures/msgbroch.cfm
http://www.glutamate.org/media/ginfoods.htm
http://www.foodsciencebureau.com.au/nutrit/msg.htm

Snip

Or maybe
she is also allergic to some other component of Chinese
cuisine (dried
pawned, mushrooms, oysters and stuff like this come to
mind).

I think my problem with both Chinese and fast food
(Burger King, etc.) is not MSG but the oils that they
use. I'm alright as long as I stick to soup, white
rice, and lightly stir-fried vegie dishes, or salad and
a small burger at the other places, but if I go for the
fried rice, egg roll, fried wonton, or an order of
fries, I'm sunk. Rumbly tummy and then the mad dash for
the potty. I'm not sure if it's the type of oil or the
amount of grease, but man, watch out!
