I thought about sending him to news.groups in the hopes that he
might learn something about why Usenet is set up as it is and why
crossposting is discouraged; then I realized that he probably is
quite aware of these things and is just out for the attention. Of
course, we're giving it to him, eh? ;-) I think I'll have to start
killfiling any thread crossposted to other diet or running groups,
what a pain in the ass...

I know more about how usenet works, than you ever will, I hate to say
that. I wrote free, GNU copyrighted programs for maintaining usenet

Ah! Another area of expertise.

I happen to know a bit about how usenet works, yes. You can be ironic
all you want about that, it is your right.

It's too bad you don't seem to be
able to follow the suggestions offered on crossposting. Just
another prime example of you ignoring experts opinions and following
your own little set of rules.

USENET was designed for crossposting. If crossposting was thought to
be bad, USENET serverw would not accept crossposted articles.
Crossposting is a feature. Inappropriate crossposting is, obviously,
frowned upon. Crossposting an article about Stu Mittleman's diet to a
running and diet newsgroups is not at all inappropriate.

It is when you've been asked in the past to stop this practice. I don't
believe too many in this group are interested in Mittleman's Slow Burn book.
Have you read the part where he advises reading the "Eat Right 4 Your Type"
diet? I don't know of one member who is on or interested in going on this
diet. But of course you seem to ignore requests to stop the crossposting
and just continue doing it

I'm also a little bit skeptical of the products he endorses. For some reason
the term snake oil keeps running through my head when I read about the
products on this siteg

``Cross Posting

Cross posting is sending one message with two or more groups in the
"To:" field. Don't do this until you've been around awhile, and then
be sure the message is totally relevant in all places. Even at that,
some netcop will reply with a zinger. I like to reference the x-posted
groups in the first line of the post, so those who respond can decide
for themselves if they wish to continue the trend. Multiposting,
sending one article separately to different groups, used to be
preferred to crossposting. When ISP's started limiting the number of
crossposts, spammers developed software to multipost one message to
thousands of groups. This generates a separate article for each group,
adding to the clog. Some news admins will kill a duplicate message, so
it's better to crosspost. Check your ISP's TOS/AUP, as crossposting is
often limited.''

For what? It's simple. Those who dislike Xposting do so because it means
they give up (their delusins of) control over their little space on Usenet.
Those that like it, as I do, see the obvious need to include new ideas from
several groups for open discussion.

Say it this way.

Lots of you, mainly women, want to close the bathroom door and twitter
amongst yourselves. Others want to kick that door open for comment and
debate in the international Usenet, open forum it is meant to be.

We each have answers for the problem. You have killfiles; we have Xposting
newsreaders. You simply don't want your "space" invaded and that is nothing
more than a self centered response to a problem you could easily solve by
killfiling.

So grow up. Killfile, shut up and move on.

There is no need, obvious or otherwise, to include discussion on
subjects unrelated to the charter of the group.

It was never meant to be abused by simple minded people like you who
apparently do not possess the ability to see exactly what would happen
if everyone followed their lead and disregarded netiquette. If all
posters did what you propose, then you would have several hundred people
all cross-posting to their favourite newsgroups with every post, then
the replies from those several hundred newsgroups would swamp this
newsgroup in both on topic content as well as sheer volume.

You are a simple minded idiot.

As I said, if everyone followed your lead, you couldn't control the
noise with killfiles, as there would be several hundred off topic posts
for each one on topic. You would have a newsgroup that was of no use to
anyone, totally unreadable. The only reason that *you* can read or
follow threads on this newsgroup is because there aren't very many
posters as inconsiderate, stupid, and short sighted as you. Most that
follow your inane reasoning are about fourteen years of age and taking a
break from sniffing glue, or scratching their names in the paintwork on
people's cars.

So grow up. Killfile, shut up and move on.

Yes, grow up. Post your address and I'll send you a couple of dollars
that you can put toward saving for a clue.

David

omg! This is the swamp water my friend was chugging a couple years ago.
All of a sudden it seemed everyone in the village was a dealer. The
stuff is wicked expensive. I remember thinking all I spent on my weight
loss was for shoes.

My friends are usually smarter :-/

Then you really do have no excuse besides being an attention seeking
asshole I guess.

Don't you love it when someone proves your point for you, Jenn? ;-)
Sheesh, what a tool...

So, ignoranus, you choose to completely ignore anything anyone said and try
to prove what a horse's ass you are.

Now, go look that up, dip****.
