Default Zone Diet Query?

Would like to learn more about the Zone Diet.

Have Googled but nothing shows clearly how many Mini-blocks per meal to eat?

Have found details of how much of each of the Carbs/Fat/Protein constitutes
a Mini-block and the need to eat them in a 1/3rd-1/3rd-1/3d combination but
not how many of each?

Can someone point me to a Beginners Guide to the Zone, short of actually
buying the book?

Thanks

It may be easiest to buy the book(s).

Its less "radical" than Atkins, & I know someone who lost about 30kg over a
year on The Zone.

"The Zone" does 40% carbs. That is way too much in my opinion.

Why don't you steal the book somewhere, if you are that serious about
not buying it.

You can almost always steal it from the library.... Wear a dark
trenchcoat to give you ample cloth to cover it up, and not to look
conspicuous.

Your local library will most likely have a couple of the The Zone
books. If not, they can get them with an inter-library loan.

I recommend The Zone over Atkins because the Zone specifies the
amounts of carbs, fats and protein for each meal. And it does work as
well as atkins.

The carb cravings I had on the Zone were a bitch. I could barely keep
it together until my weekend planned cheat. I was hungry a lot as well,
in fact I only managed to stick to that WOE for 6 months and once I
liberalized it I gained back 10 of the 30 lbs I'd lost.

Protein Power is actually pretty planned out as well. You must
determine your lean body mass and then eat the correct amount of protien
to sustain it while decreasing your lipid stores. You must also lower
your carbohydrate intake considerably, but it's all pretty structured.
Not quite as ritualistic as the Zone, but the plan is much easier to
stick to.

Thanks! That was a perfect site and just what I needed to move to the next
step in understanding this WOE.

Appreciate your input. A lot better than the other non-helpful crap!
smile.

I wanna get a feel for this way of eating before embarking on it for a
period. Atkins was good for me, but a Kidney stone scare a few months back
caused me to re-think the carb intake. Upping my carbs (and calories) has
caused some weight gain and this Zone "thing" seems more structured. It
also got a thumbs up in a review down under.

You're welcome. It took me a few readings to really understand the block
system, but since I track grams of carbs/protein/fat anyway, it was easier
for me just to figure out how many grams of each per meal and do it that
way.

I was on the soy version of the Zone diet a few years back at the
recommendation of my doctor and did very well with it. Being accustomed to
eating tofu and other soy products made it easier for me. Eventually, I read
the original version of the Zone and added meat back in to keep my hubby
happy.

Good luck,

anka
