Default Anybody else doing Dr-supervised programme?

Is anybody else seeing a Dr for a supervised effort? I see an internist in
Alabama who offers supervised weight control. She tests you thoroughly to
rule out any metabolic problems, then you meet with her nutritionist once a
week and there is a group thing once a month. If you really need pills, she
can prescribe them, but otherwise, the nutritionist works out a plan for you
that is lowcal with controlled amts of fats, carb and protein. You are also
advised to get regular exercise and she checks on that when you have your
weekly session.
It has really saved me from getting into that re-gain frustration mode.
Having somebody review your food diary with you helps you see where you need
to add, subtract or otherwise change what you're doing, and the one-on-one
sessions are worth every penny.
Is anyone else going for this sort of thing?
Compare notes?
Thanks
CK (less 39 pounds as of this morning)

Hark! I heard nck say:

Yes, I am -- I just started at the end of January.

Your program is similar to mine except that I turned out to have T2
diabetes, I just see my internist monthly, and I had a session with a
nutritionist just once (although she's available to talk whenever I
need too -- really nice lady).

It has really saved me from getting into that re-gain frustration mode.

My doctor doesn't ask to see my food logs; he's more interested in
my blood sugar booklet. But having to weigh in at his office is very
motivating for me. I have an appt. on the 15th of this month, and am
hoping to be down another 3 pounds by then -- love that positive
reinforcement! :-)

Congratulations!! I've lost 14 lbs. so far myself. The doctor
supervised plan is working where nothing else did. Of course,
it still takes a commitment on the part of the patient... :-)

I, too, am on such a program. I started because I had hoped to have
gastric bypass and working with a nutritionist before and after
surgery was required. And I, too, was newly diagnosed with Type II
diabetes.

Now I've lost so much weight that I'm no longer considering gastric
bypass, and my diabetes is so well controlled that I might be able to
get off the meds.

I see my internist quarterly, and am supposed to see the nutritionist
monthly. She had foot surgery in early January and is only just back
to seeing patients.

The nutritionist has helped. This is WOE is a dynamic thing, requiring
constant adjustment and tweaking. It's good to have input on better
ways to eat.
