Default Another dish recreated: hot dogs and beans

Expanding on the wonders of soybeans, I just made some hot dogs and
beans for lunch. Boy, was it good! Here's the recipe, which I just
came up with for the first try:

1 Pack Hot Dogs
2 Cans Eden Black Soybeans (these have 1g net carb per 1/2 cup)
1 small onion diced
1 tsp Maple extract (I used Frontier, which is glycerine based, no
sugar)
Pepper
Salt or Adobo
Hot Saude or Red Pepper Flakes (optional)

Add some olive oil or veg oil to a large pan. Dice the onion and cook
till just starting to get golden. Remove onions from pan, add the
sliced hot dogs and cook until just starting to brown a bit. Drain
the soybeans, add those, and add back the onions. Add ground pepper
and salt to taste. Instead of salt, you can also use Adobo, which I
like. Add the maple flavoring and sweeten with Splenda to taste.

As an additional step, if you want them to have more traditional syrup
like sauce consistency, add about 3/4 cup water and Xanathan gum, a
little at a time, till you get a thicker consistency.

I also tried adding some tomato sauce, that's an option too.

I haven't spotted black soybeans in the stores around here yet, but I
keep watching.

Thanks. I assumed I could order them, but one of my personal low-carb
goals is to keep it simple and inexpensive. (Although those beans
aren't terribly expensive.) That means no ordering stuff, no using
big complicated recipes on a regular basis, no buying expensive
Atkins-approved products or high-priced novelty foods. That's just a
personal choice, that helps ensure that I'll be able to stick with the
plan in the long-term, and encourage other people that it's not too
weird or complicated to try.

Do black soybeans taste like regular soybeans? The couple of times
that I've tried soybeans, they tasted horrible, so I hope not.

Beans are healthy for you
Why the hell are you using Soybeans??

Or I forgot, because they are loaded with fat
so that makes them tasty enough for lardies
like you to eat it.

Well, ordering stuff is a simple process. Certainly, it's simpler than
growing and harvesting foodstuffs yourself. You can order the beans dry in
25 lbs bags, too. Having readily available foods that allow you to stay on
plan handy helps in the long term, too, as do options and variety.

It may certainly be a personal choice, but it might be a little weird.

They don't taste bad if you eat them in a recipe.

I *think* that they don't taste "soy", but then I don't remember eating
much soy.

I can find these black soy beans in some grocery stores, but NEVER on
the shelf with regular beans.

They are always in the health food section. Not plain old foods.

They are also in some health food stores (for more money than in the big
box grocery stores that carry them).

They definitely don't have the taste of uncooked soybeans. Even if
you take soy flour and heat it, in a few minutes the soy taste is gone.
