The number ONE request at Walter Reed hospital is phone cards.
Phone Cards Connect Us With Wounded
Yellow ribbons tied around trees and red, white and blue stickers on the backs SUVs saying "Support our Troops" are things that make civilians feel good but do nothing for the men and women actually in uniform. So please consider the following: The number ONE request at Walter Reed hospital is phone cards. The government doesn't pay long distance phone charges and these wounded soldiers are rationing their calls home. Many will be there throughout the holidays. Really support our troops -- Send phone cards of any amount to: Medical Family Assistance Center Walter Reed Medical Center 6900 Georgia Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20307-5001 They say they need an "endless" supply of these -- any amount even $5 is greatly appreciated. Wal-Mart has good prices on AT&T cards, Sam's Club is even better, if you are a member. Please pass this portion on, copy and paste it into your e-mail, and send to everyone you know. |

"Bob Pastorio" : : Please pass this portion on, copy and paste it into your e-mail, and : send to everyone you know. Bob, you should have at least put it in your own words. I don't do things just because someone puts "send to everyone you know". It makes me wonder what the deal is. BTW: we have other soldiers besides the ones at Walter Reed.... http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/charity/phonecards.asp Pat : : |

Dear Pat, please lighten up. What dos it matter whose words they are when
the facts are correct? Sounds like a great idea no matter who suggested it, that's what the "deal" is. Thanks Bob Happy holidays, Nancy J "Pat" wrote in message ... And I mean that in the nicest possible place. You are free to ignore anything I post henceforth. Matter of fact, you are free to ignore things I already posted. What a deal, huh...? Interesting how your reply was *ALL* about you... Bob |

Don Imus announced on his show this morning(Friday) that the number one request at Walter Reed was the phone cards. He said he was personally going to send $10,000 worth of phone cards to Walter Reed. I figure all the good souls who heard this will determine to send as many cards as they can possibly afford to help out with this wonderful effort. The lazy ones will decide that someone else has already taken care of it. Nevertheless, after this message has gone around the Internet plus being announced on a national program, I imagine Walter Reed is going to have mail problems. Plus, (the cynic is speaking now) I can see a lot of these cards being stolen and/or sold by individuals who get to handle all this phone card mail. The cards, after all, have no owner and are as good as cash. Janet |
