I lost approximately 2 lbs or so. Not quite the stellar progress. I am
approximately 7 lbs overweight at the moment. If I lose a little more
than that, I will be satisfied. Fortunately, I cleaned up my life a
little bit so that I have more time to exercise.

In a year you'll have it licked.

(However, my daily random variation can be well over 2 pounds.)

True, but if it was that simple, I wouldn't have had a job for the last 4
years... ;o)

The key is to remember why it is worth it I think.. that's where I am right
now.. re-evaluating what I'm working toward..

That is very true. A re-evaluation is sometimes the best thing you can do.
I've spent the last to months treading water--not trying to lose, but making
sure I didn't gain more than a few pounds (waffle weight--the few pounds you
tend to go up and down anyway chuckle). It was a stressful time period
(end of the school year) and the benefits have been two-fold. First, I gave
myself permission to relax a little, and it worked out just fine--I didn't
betray myself. I maintained. Wow--I can trust me--and I don't have to be
perfect all the time. That's a nice piece of info to have!!

Second, I am now ready to move on, finish losing those last pounds. My body
has adjusted to my 90 pound weight loss, and is ready to keep going. As an
added bonus, my 2 teenage daughters have decided to come along on the
fitness journey. My Curves is letting teenage daughters work out free with
moms this summer, and we are swimming and doing water aerobics, too. It's
great to see their enthusiasm!

As for why I'm working toward it--I *want* to be in good shape--not just
according to the scale. I like the feeling of being healthy and active.
And I am not quite where I want to be yet. But I know I can get there. =c)

Yes... My other issue is that I have a few things interfering with
exercise. I am not making excuses, I think that I should change
priorities and make time for exercise at the expense of other things,
but it is not very easy.

Actually it is stellar. A lesson from Atkins that really applies
across the board -

The last ten pounds are supposed to be lost "very slowly".
Since Atkins defines a stall as 4+ weeks without a new low
he must mean almost that far between new lows when he
writes "very slowly". A pound a month in the last ten is
what he thought was supposed to happen.

You could further reduce portions to drive the rate faster,
but since you're losing those last few at the appropriate
rate I don't think you need to change anything at this point.

Victorious progress. Really.

If I lose a little more
than that, I will be satisfied. Fortunately, I cleaned up my life a

Excellent.

I think it's wonderful your daughters can workout with you at Curves. I
attended Curves for a year and loved it. It was a good starting point for
getting routine exercise into my life. I abandonded it for biking one
summer and just never returned...only because the biking took over my life

They are enjoying their workouts. And it keeps them from spending excessive
time at the computer, without my having to fuss at them. There is a
tendency toward obesity and high blood pressure in my family, and toward
high cholesterol on their father's side, so it is very important for them to
cement good habits now. And I am enjoying spending time with them, too.

This evening we hooked up our at-home version of Dance Dance Revolution. It
is so much fun! And very good exercise, too.
