oatmeal
The post about breakfast got me thinking. How do you guys add protein
powder to oatmeal (and even other things)? Do you add the powder as it's cookng, right before it's done cooking, or when it's finished? If it's finished, I find I have to add more water or milk, but I've always been nervous to add it before it's done. With the exception of smoothies and yogurt, though, I've never tried to add it to things. For example, when making pancakes, could I reduce a little flour or add more water/milk, or would it come out all wrong? I'm just wondering how you guys use it and if you're successful at making it taste good, because I find it often messes with textures or flavors and so I don't use it as much as I'd like. Thanks Sara |

I'll have to try it, though we don't ordinarily ever make pancakes. I'm not a huge fan of them. I think I might like this kind better. The mix is 1 c oats, 3/4 c egg beaters, and 1 c ff cottage cheese to that you would add some vanilla extract (or other flavors) - 1/4 t, plus 2 packets of splenda. Sometimes I use sf hazelnut syrup instead of the vanilla and then cut back on the splenda. It makes 2 servings. My DietPower software has this recipe as 280 cal, 28g prot, 33g carb, and 2.5 g fat per serving. -- the volleyballchick |
