The amount of carbs you can eat is all an individual thing. Yes, some can..
and yes, I eat that or pretty close to it and lose weight. Not as fast as
when I cut way way down but I can still lose. I think it's been easier for
me to do it more slowly but without feeling like I am depriving myself all
the time. I don't obsess over counting carbs.. I don't eat white bread.. I
get whole wheat sugar free bread and have that a few times a week.. I eat
some of the *carbier* veggies that some people prefer to avoid.. even
carrots and fresh corn once in awhile. I just mostly make a point of staying
away from white flour, sugar, potatoes and pasta.. although sometimes I have
whole wheat pasta, but not more than once or twice a month. I am just not a
really huge pasta fan. I make lasagne using sliced zuchini in place of pasta
noodles. My kids don't even care that it doesn't have pasta in it.. they
love it. Sometimes it can be a matter of just leaving out the *really* bad
stuff and substituting healthier alternatives.

My cousin started watching his carbs back in April - not full blown
Atkins, all he did was go out and buy a carb counter and limit his carbs
to between 50 and 100 per day. He lost 45 pounds between April and
October. It was the reason I decided to switch to LC from Weight
Watchers.

Hi,
I've lost 16 kgs[35lbs] in the last 4 months, by cutting down
on bread, potatoes, and pasta. Minimal exercise, a bit of walking
early in the time frame, but none lately.

Eating plenty of fruit, salads, and vegetables, eating pasta about
once a week. Huge late breakfast Sundays, eggs, bacon, mushrooms,
tomatoes, black pudding, no toast though.

I have! Started the diet on 06/09/03. Could not do induction. Just felt like
crap. Changed to this:

- 100 grams of low glycemic carbs. Stone ground bread, whole wheat pasta,
brown rice. But for example, for breakfast I eat 1/2 egg sandwich on whole
wheat bread, with tomatos and bacon.

- for lunch I eat ham or turkey on whole wheat breat. With mayo and tomatos.

- for dinner, a burger in whole wheat pita, or whole wheat pasta with a meat
sauce.

- Went from 158.5 to 131, which was way too thin.

- My maintenance weight is 135 now. I blow the WOE once a week with a big
night out.

- My trick is to keep exercising. And the weight is staying off.

A friend of mine was diagnosed with diabetes in February of this year. Her
doctor put her on a diet 75-100 carbs per day. She was married in June and
had lost about 35-40 lbs. It is a slow weight loss (apposed to the 30 is
lost in just over a month with induction) but she is keeping it off.

So I would say it certainly works, just depends on the results you are
looking for

That sounds about like my experience, sans the diabetes and the wedding. I
started by just trying to stay under 100 grams a day, but in the first two
weeks of tracking on Fitday I believe my highest was in the 80's, my lowest
in the 20's. I've been losing 1 - 2 pounds a week, which is plenty fast
enough for me.

I'm on Atkins. Since Atkins is a process to find your own body's ideal
carb levels for loss and maintenance and I followed that process, I
know my two numbers.

My CCLL is 50ish and my CCLM is 100ish.

So below 50 I tend to lose. Above 100 I tend to gain. Between 50-100
I tend to remain the same weight.

I'm sure some would lose at 72-100. I'm sure some would gain in that
range.

That may be slow compared to some people, but it (ca 4 lbs per
month) is not slow otherwise. Ditto re losing 30 lbs in
induction. Some people do, and some don't. There seem to ba a
lot of variables involved.
