Default I'm coming down with a bug:(

Still in induction and my throat is sore. Can I eat some sugar free jello? I
know it has aspartine in it (ok I spelled that wrong lol) but I need something
for my throat. If anyone can give me some advice I would appreciate it. I
have been wearing shorts out here for the past few evenings and it's been
pretty chilly, so I know that is what brought it on.

Thanks.

I've been eating SF jello since beginning of induction (01/24/04) and no
problems for me at all. If it was all my throat could take, I'd eat it

Side Note: I was sick with the flu 3 weeks into the diet, and took Advil.
BAD BAD BAD idea (for me, at least). Set off HUGE sugar cravings. Luckily I
was sick enough to sleep through them But those are the only cravings
I've had, and I can directly attribute them to Advil.

Feel better!

Atkins since 01/24/04
250/221/(210 by 05/12)/150??

Thanks Joan. I'm assuming ALL sugar free jello has aspartine, the sweatner
that in some can cause slow weight loss or completely stall it all together? I
talked with the Atkins center about it she said if it was only for a few days I
should be fine (that is if this particular sweetner affected MY system making
it slow my weight loss) if it didn't then I would be fine for sure. She said
Jolly Rancher use to make a sugar free jello with splenda but that she doesnt
think it's out anymore.

Well you dont really know if it's caused any problems until you get on the
scale and see if it slowed or stalled your weight loss, because of the
asapartine in it. S

You're right. I DO have the occasional Diet Coke-- very occasional-- and that
doesn't seem to cause problems, but I do try to be careful around the
aspartame. So I foresee the SF Jellos being an occasional treat at best, not a
daily dessert-fest. I've become anti-dessert as a concept, training myself out
of the need for a sweet after every meal. MAN that stuff is ingrained!

Jolly Rancher ready-made gelatin with Splenda was still around about 6
months ago, but I haven't looked lately. It is Splenda flavored, but
had something else in it, IIRC, that made it about 3g carb per serving.

If you want to, you can make your own with Splenda, unsweetened Kool-Aid
and Knox gelatin. Google the archives of this group for exact amounts.

It was only in the last revision of the book that Atkins said to avoid
aspartame. Some people find that it stalls them, or have a sensitivity
to it, but many people have no problem with it.
