Default First Metric Century!

I completed my first metric century bike ride in Delaware yesterday.
All total, I rode 69 miles in 5 hours 45 minutes. Rolling speed was
slightly over 12 MPH. I'm very tired! :-)

Well done! Not a bad time either - what was the terrain like, flat/hilly
or rolling?

I once managed a 100 in 3:58 but that was pretty flat.

This weekend, I took part in a group ride rehearsing the Dunwich Dynamo
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunwich_Dynamo) which is to be held at the
end of July. The weather on Saturday night was dreadful - heavy rain,
strong winds - yuk!

I rode to the station and got the train to London, and then rode home
from Dunwich afterwards - a round trip including the London/Dunwich ride
itself of 320km. I too was tired, more so from the missed night's sleep
than anything. The great thing about the Dunwich Run is it ends, first
thing in the morning, at a Cafe on the beach - where you can get a HUGE
(and given the ride you've just done, completely GUILT FREE) fry-up
breakfast. You can then have a nice leisurely swim in the North Sea
(temperature this time of year, 11c!!) before riding home

If you're at all like me - you're going to find long distance cycling
really really addictive...

Wow! That's an accomplishment! My husband and I did 56 miles on Saturday
around Mt Adams in Washington state. It was beautiful, and just the right
temp. I was pretty shot afterwards. I didn't think a 2500' elevation
sounded like all that much... But I was wrong! I was wasted the rest of
the weekend.
