I think i feel "depressed" because i missed the gym. possible?
Wow.
For the first time since taking on the LC WOE, I feel sort of down and depressed. I used to be down all the time, constantly. I used to have bad mood swings as well, and be filled with anxiety. Yesterday evening, I could not get to sleep. My plan was in bed at 2am, sleeping by 2.30am, wake up at 9.30am and do the gym by 11am. I could not sleep. Something was crazy with my stomach, and I was at the point of thinking I may be getting a flu bug. I could not sleep until about 4am, and when the alarm went off at 9.30, I reset it for 12.30pm, because I could not very well go to the gym on five hours sleep. Today I am irritable, second guessing myself, and sort of down, and morose. What is up with that. I have been doing the gym and lifting and running alot, which makes me feel GREAT, now I miss one day and I feel down and bad, lack of self confidence. I also feel off kilter. As if my equilibrium is way off. You know? Is this just a bad coincidence? I do not think it is diet based, I have not altered the diet much at all, aside from going from induction levels right after Christmas to regular maintenance levels now. Please reply if you can shed some light on this. |

I am thinking yes, but I am so new with the exercise, I have no real idea. |

I feel the same way unless I'm taking planned time off (I take a week off
from lifting every month and a half -- SD on HST). It is a good thing, I think. Consider this possibility: Suppose your body learns to expect to expend energy, and when you don't that energy has no place to go. It's probably more in your head than in your body. Don't sweat it though, just go the next day. Steve,
I know EXACTLY how you feel! I had to miss my workout today because of some schedulng issues at work and I still don't feel right. Working out has become so much a part of my routine that I feel awful when I miss it. Which is ironic since I HATE to exerciseRobyn |

Well, that is to say the idea can seem unappealing to me alot of the time. However when I get there, I really do enjoy it. I also like the feeling afterwards and during. I like the idea of lifting most, and it fills me with some sort of confidence that I don't usually have when I do go on a regular basis. Glad to know that it is not just me that feels off like this when I miss. Thanks alot for the reply. Steve |

Please reply if you can shed some light on this. if you're going to exercise for the rest of your life (and you should, and so should i and so should everyone who can), then you're going to miss days at the gym. it happens. it's ok to miss a day. sometimes i will do a lighter or a shorter workout if i don't feel very good. you don't have to go all out every single time. if you're tired from lack of sleep, try just doing some of your workout. i personally find that i feel better after doing just some deadlifts and a couple of upper body exercises, even if i'm too tired or sick or cranky to do anything else. you might be getting sick, or you might just be having a crap day. try to get a good night's sleep tonight, get back on track with the gym, and don't worry too much about it unless it continues for a few days. |
