For me, when I ate sugar and starches, and fillers and additives, I
desperately needed willpower. Now that I stopped eating all that
garbage, what I thought was an "innate drive" to over eat is simply an
addiction to sugar. Take away the garbage, and I can eat like the
normallest of normal people (lost 70 pounds, to boot, and a whole host
of medical complaints have pretty much vanished).

If you find yourself hungrier after eating than you did before eating (I
could go all day without eating and still be less hungry than I was when
I broke the fast with bagels and cereals), look at the content of the
food. Many people can't handle excessive amounts of sugar and starch.
Sucks to be me, but I deal with it.

There's a tea available from the Maharishi Ayurveda people called "Be Trim"
that is supposed to reduce sugar craving because one of the ingredients
bonds to the sugar receptor of your taste buds. Haven't tried it yet, but
will start today -thanks for reminding me.

Interestingly enough, the suggested use is to drink AFTER meals. I guess to
make sure you don't kill your appetite before you eat anything at all.

I don't find it funny at all. If it's really all about willpower, then
wouldn't it be really funny if they showed an addict with a needle in
his/her arm, dead in an airplane seat? Just too fricken lazy to get off
the drugs huh? No difference.

If this is the one about the fat Americans stuck in the airplane seats,

it
was funny!

Care to say what the content was that bothers you? Generally I find the
panel silly but occasionally it's funny. I haven't seen anything
recently to set you off. FFM

Life is too short. If you don't like it don't read it.

Really? I'm taller than you and weigh less, but I consider myself a "person
of size."

I'm the same height and weigh 40-55 lbs less, and I'm a person of size.

Yup. I'm shorter and I weigh less but ... a person of size. You bet.

Get a life. It's not even offensive. It's an airplane cabin with fat people
stuck in their seats, and an announcement being made saying "Welcome to
London. Once the other passengers have exited the plane, we will begin
prying any remaining Americans from their seats."

www.spokane.net/bizarro.asp open Monday April 5's comic.

That's actually very funny, speaking as a Person of Size.

Of course, I'm comfortable enough with my embaressment over my weight to
exclaim "a me-sized desk" when I find a chair and separate table in a
classroom full of uni-desks..

This reminds me strongly of all those self-satirizing 'Bloom County'
cartoons back in the 80's; Opus was the ombudsman of the Bloom
Picayune for a couple of weeks, and couldn't go three panels without
offending some fictional special-interest group or other. Isn't that
the point of the funnies page -- to say what everyone else is too
politically correct to say?

I was actually replying to you and another poster who said "fat people
are too lazy to excercise, etc. and bring scorn on themselves. Sorry, I
should have separated them.

Who said anything about willpower? Why are you reading something into

a
cartoon that doesn't exist?
